I will buy Project Reality

Post by caligulus »

I will buy Project Reality.

You guys should be able to charge for this. It's amazing. The slew of horrible games that come out and this fucking diamond in the rough is free??? You guys are a mod team???

What the hell!?

Seriously. I will buy it from you. Just let me know. It's funny... Counterstrike guys made it big and this mod is 90000x what that thing was. And now Counterstrike is like a household name amongst gamers.

Project Reality needs to be the same.

.9 here we come. You guys are fantastic I love you.

Go donate, it'll make you feel incredibly less guilty for playing it.

If it was for 10 bucks on steam id buy it. Would help with the popularity to.

Though if you sell on steam you gotta commit to patches and testing new releases.

Good point! ;)

Joking aside, and no offence EA/Dice, what the PR-crew does within six months is three times more than "that bunch" did for some two years.
Okay, I shall be fair; the game's engine is "Battlefield 2", and the crew built PR on it. (So, kudos EA/Dice!).
Nevertheless, this PR-crew is doing an outstanding job and I can tell, because I've been involved with a couple of mods earlier, both as a tester, and as the über-admin I've been "for ages".

To make a tiny donation makes the difference. (I have to admit that it has been a while since I made one). But for crying out loud - I have five PR-servers spinning in "my community". (And that is a declaratory that Project Reality is good. No, not good - the best mod ever).

@ Donation staff! Concerning the donation and its fee, it might be a good one to have $5 choice too. Yes, I know that 10 dollars aren't that much, but for some kiddos it is.

Back to topic, would I pay for Project Reality? Yes, I would.
If the engine was changed.
Read: The game is too good, to be running on BF2 - and I hope that this mod will live on and develop, for a long time!

Epilogue: So, get you VISA-card ready and give some bucks to this crew, because they're worth every dime.

(Darn, I talk too much) :)

I've donated. I have no regrets playing now. I'm going to make it a habit to donate $10 a month.

Donations are always welcome ;)

Or, since you appear to be living in Belgium as well, more Red Bull would be welcome.

No doubt I'll donate.

But i have to agree with what someone else said; this game is too good for BF2.

Its like you guys are almost held back by it. I wonder how much better it would be with a different engine... or something. Or if it was run off Bad company i dunno

quite seriously, I'd selling PR. <inserting opinion here>, I know PR2 was going to be an online pay-by-month style game, but I'd like to seriosuly suggest just payment for community mappacks/game/extras instead.

i'd say pay by the patch, would be a bit more affordable for us players but the devs can up the price a bit to compensate in this case since there's something new being given to us on each release anwyays.

I looked at few screens from C4 engine and it looks quite dated if you ask me :S

I guess one can see where you're coming from however - some of us are more worried about amazing game-play than graphics. The engine looks sufficient when taking into account the way the game will function.

If you simply want graphics go play Modern Warfare 2. Though I will say; all the bells and whistles and amazing aesthetics that game has didn't help it any...

...it's still a piece of shit.

Just look at the Wii. Now, I'm not saying it's the most successful console - far from it. Point being it took gameplay over graphics. It's downfall was releasing horrible pointless titles though. I think the whole graphic era - where games were only improved upon in that area, is slowly fading away. People are starting to realize there is more to games than just pretty colors.

It sounds like they're only using c4 because it's free. But unreal engine is free, very easy to work with, and visuals are way up there. The only thing that makes C4 look better than BF2's engine is the lighting. I'm not sure why BSS won't go with the more advanced engines, but it's rather dissapointing. Sure i care more about gameplay than graphics, but when you stop to look around the illusion is broken. When newer, better engines are available it doesn't make sense to go with something worse. That being said, judging by their work of the Bf2 engine, they will probably bring out the best in C4.

I wouldn't even mind if the gfx with a new engine are as "good" as in bf2. If a new engine breaked the current limits in gameplay i'd be just fine with 3 or 5 years old gfx.

When i was like 10 years old i had an atari 2600 console with one game (pacman). I had this poster with the covers of all those titles available and i kept staring and fantasizing about how great and colourful they would be. It was all in the head...

Seriously: this game does not need better gfx, it needs to set new standards in online gaming. 128 ppl? 256? more? Yes please :)
