I wonder, are the 10 seconds cumulative?
The first time I was a crewman in the driver seat, a squadmember wanted to change, so I switched back and forth from the gunner seat, and died after maybe 5 seconds because he didn't have time to enter the driver seat yet.
(It is also deadly to be gunner if you don't have a driver appearantly)
The second time I was unable to get a crewman kit (a "you can't get a kit so quickly after your last" message), so I decided to ride as a normal tropper in the back while waiting for the kit to be released. I entered the APC, was automatically assigned to the gunner position, and died before I had time to change seats, less than 2 seconds
