Joystick Issue?

Post by Colfax »

When I try to fly anything in PR my joystick will turn left and right fine (twist). The accelerate and decelerate work too. But my forward/back pitch and left/right pitch doesn't work. I have tested my joystick and calibrated it and it functions properly. Also i can set my controls properly in the control section. When i get in game though it does not work. Any ideas?

Must of been the BF2 bug because i reset my controls and re-did them and it is working fine now.

maybe if you'd say the model/brand of the joystick - ppl could help you out

try binding it as "primary" key not "secondary"

He's right. Both my X52 and my EVO by Saitek are not working. Pitch stopped working with .9. I assumed it was just me and didnt say anything until I got back on today and realized it's still broken.

JoystickMouseTool [deinmeister.de]
-- download JoystickMouseTool here

Free JoyToKey Download
-- download JoyToKey here

With these both tools you can replace joystick-axis and type in: "mouse-axis" instead (using JoystickMouseTool) or you can type in Keyboard-keys instead (using JoytoKey)

I had this problem once and I figured out a solution. Go to the Control Options for either the heli or airplane. In the movement section (where the joystick axis are shown) make sure that there are no keys in the "Secondary" column. If there are, use the Esc key to delete them.

If this doesn't work, listen to the other guy.

TBH
I've looked up this problem.
Meany times.
Just keep trying.
It might take 5 min but it'll work eventually.
As long as you know the joystick works in the first place.

But taking away the key helps also.

If I can recall.
back in like .89 I had a joystick issue.

I set it so pulling back made me go up, and pushing down made me well go down. But the controls were flipped. The reverse control thing wasnt checked off, when i did no luck either?

Just move the Joystick forward and backward/left right in the menu settings, just like u would if you were binding any other key.

The joystick handle binds as axis 1 & 2

Not really.

BF2 especially with my stick since it has 4 axis.
-Throttle
- Axis x
- Axis y
- Axis z

BF2 can find all except for y easily witch is left/right ? ( I think that is the name at least ) .

So best bet is to take away all keys and take away the x axis for forward/back
and work on the left/right. It'll take time but it works... Eventually.

Look up setting up you're Joystick for BF2. If i still had the link it'd same just about the same thing.

Yeah, X Y Z, not 1 & 2..

Anyway when you say "not really" - what are you referring to? That the Joystick doesn't need to be bound - sure it does.

BF2 didn't have native support for Joysticks , and there is no .cfg file for a Joystick so how would it even know to look for one? I take it your running third party software that came with your stick?

I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and because of the way the drivers work with W7 the joy is seen as keyboard - that is why all the axis need to be bound to the game..

If you use a different OS then I recommend removing the Falcon .cfg file completely then give it another go...

No as in it doesn't seem to work for the first time.
Its just BF2. It works the first time every time for some people, and others not.

It takes time for it to find the right axis is all.

Right I forgot about the falcon part. Makes flying and setting it up impossible.

BTW i have the the none pro version so i need to convert it to USB.
