Is it worth building a rig based off the Core 2 Duo or Quad Core Processors?
Specifically anything beyond the E8400 and the higher end Q series quad cores.
Is it better to just build off the i5 and i7 cores?
Is it worth building...?

I would not do it, E8400 is for a dead socket (they dont do more CPU for it)v1rotate wrote:Is it worth building a rig based off the Core 2 Duo or Quad Core Processors?

Tip: If you want a computer that can keep up with the constant updates of graphic cards and CPUs - go for a good quality motherboard. Try to put more money on that then you really think and then cut down what people usally spend on (graphic and prossesor).
To that high end motherboard you take some mid-range CPU and graphic card and when you update those vital parts for preformance (graphic and CPU) you wont lose as much money as if you go for a high-end card/prossesor right away. Also you will have a compture that can keep up for longer.
