Calling fo Arty

Can someone please fully explain how to call for an artillery strike now. I was in a game today and called for a strike, thought I marked the target but instead arty came in on my position.

You have to have a commander to approve the strike, a squad leader has to call it in using his radio, the best way to go about it in my opinion is talk to your commander and say where you want/need it then tell him your going to try and get a good marker, have a few goes until you see it is requested on the map exactly where you want it, then tell commander to approve the strike.

Take into account that Arty strikes are much bigger now and you need to stand quite far back!

civilians with cellphones can also call in artillery (Insurgents)

I believe they also do not have to be squad leader, correct?

You probably marked a location close to yourself by accident, perhaps a
wall or tree or blade of grass between you and your intended target.
The commander should not have approved anyway.

Little Tip

Put an observe marker on your target, check map (Caps Lock)
make sure that your marker is where it should be.
Call in arty on your observe marker, check map AGAIN!! (Caps Lock)
to make sure that request is on your observe marker confirm with Commander

The key is to be in contact with Commander and let them know what you are
doing before you go through this process.

Personally i belvie that the Arty should be buffed to be able to be utuilise towards the stronger Firebases. Decrease reload time and make it so every force that has acces to one type of artillery have acces to the one belov. Example i have artillery on one map, then i also have a mortar strike.

Ok, I get the idea behind the communication and all. Does the commander see the squad leaders target marker on his map and do you still use the GLTD to mark the target. In the instance I mentioned I had a target marker on the intended target, but when the commander set the arty it seemed to be set on my sqd lead icon. I just want to make sure that if I call in arty I don't get my squad/team killed.

its comes up a big yellow flashing thing on his map like a contact report would.
and hes an idoit for accepting arty on your swquads position
