[Help] Getting Started

So I've been lurking in the Community Factions and Community Modding fourms for a while, and I'm finally pulling the trigger and asking how to do this stuff. Due to "creative differences" with my instructor, I will not be taking a 3d modeling course in college. I'm willing to learn, and I spend hours at a time in front of my computer anyway. I can scrounge up whatever money is needed for a modeling program, but first i need to know what to get.

3DS Max vs Autodesk Maya

I've heard alot of talk about 3ds Max in the fourms. If what I picked up is correct, 3ds Max is easier to import into BF2. On the other hand, I've played a little with Maya. I don't have alot of experience with Maya, so im basicly starting freash with either one.

3ds Max 9 (NOT 2009)

IMO the most compatible with the bf2 modding world and has the most documentation on working with it and bf2...

Yeah, 3ds Max 9 if you're going to mod BF2.
