Re: CAS Answer
When someone lazes a target fly near the lazer marker and drop a bomb. It should go for the laze itself.

Re: CAS Answer
bombs and laser guided missles will need a laze, you will get a confirmation message when its locked. The pilot will tell you. Rockets will go by themselves without a laze and the gun... well that just speaks for itself. Also i think bombs need to be in the air a certain ammount of time before arming or they won't go off, so you'll need to fly above 500 meters (i believe) for them to explode.

Re: CAS Answer
Using your line "2 type of missile" makes me wonder if you're asking about an Air Superiority aircraft, (F16, MiG29, Eurofighter) They carry two kinds of Air to Air missiles, (long and short range). Neither of these kinds of weapons can lock onto a lase. Use laser guided bombs or laser target missiles instead.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Re: CAS Answer
The commander's CAS marker does put a laze on the map.
The following weapon modes will display lazes, and their weapons will home in once they acquire the target:
-Bombs (All jets; use the LT mode on the Tornado and Su-30)
-Mavericks (A-10, Su-25)
-Hellfires in Laser Targeted mode, default 4 key (Cobra, Apache, Havoc, Z-10)
The following weapon modes will display lazes:
-Gunship cannons (Cobra, Apache, Havoc, Z-10)
-Pilot view w/o AIM's armed (All attack helicopters, Huey Transport)
-Hydras (A-10, Su-25)
-Hellfires in Laser Guided mode, default 3 key (Cobra, Apache, Havoc, Z-10)
-FLIR camera (Huey transport, Huey gunship, all littlebird variants)
Lazes may be placed on the map with the following methods and will expire after 30 seconds:
-GLTD (Squad Leader equipment, left click once to "shoot" the marker; if it contacts terrain or a non-infantry object, it will attach itself to it)
-CAS Marker (Commander function)
-Co-pilot designator (All attack helicopter co-pilots with FLIR camera or weapons, alt-click)
With the GLTD, use the T commo-rose, set contact distance (use your own marker to approximate), then use one of the CAS request buttons to place a message and map marker, communicating to the pilot where the target is and what type of ordnance is advised by the observer. THIS DOES NOT PLACE A LAZE ON IT'S OWN.

Oh man, so those bombs that I've just been free-fall dropping in the A-10 can actually lock onto things?! Or did I misunderstand?

HAHAHAHAHA Yeah, SERIOUSLY. I think out of a LOT of attempts, I've only made like 5 successful hits. I've seriously been wondering how people get so good at bombing me, cause I kept practicing, but figured maybe I was just bad at it!Fighter wrote:They can and aren't accurate any other way.
Wait, so which one makes a bigger explosion, the bombs or AGMs?

Re: CAS Answer
Bombs make bigger explosions. kinda obvious.
Also boms lock themselves on their own so you may drop a bomb just knowing there's a lased target below you, you don't need to see it (that means you may drop a bomb from high altitude and once it's at ~800 it will start to follow the lase...

Re: CAS Answer
If you do find yourself in a dumb-fire bombing situation, bear in mind that bombs behave more like missiles with a descending curve-over-time than freefalling bombs. Most of the time, if you're flying at less than 800m, pointing your nose just over your target and pickling (releasing the bomb), will result in a hit.
Practice!

Re: CAS Answer
I had a awsome round the other day using the new T marker system. I was sl in a CAS squad and using the laze and marker system the 2 pilots in my squad ripped the MEC armour to pices. I did fined thats when dropping the CAS markers via setting contact distance the marker can some times be way past where i wanted it to go. Even though It was set to the correct distance. Being able to use the attack this position marker for my pilots they just flew over the laze box droped bombs and boom.
Best way to fly CAS is to have a SL who is willing not to fly and go out into the map and place laze on the targets with markers.
One video I took when the pilot bombed a sniper instead of using guns.
