DONT DIRECT ME TO THE STICKIES SINCE NONE OF THOSE SUGGESTIONS HAVE WORKED.
Alright, so I'm getting kicked with this error "PnkBstrB.exe heartbeats stopped." Is there any other tips on fixing this besides the ones in those stickies?
Here is what happens:
I join a server and am able to play for a bit and then suddenly my screen freezes and either the land goes black for a bit and then I am able to play again for a minute, or it just kicks me right away.
Thanks,
DarkM

Try to stop all unnecessary programs and background services before starting PR. After that, open the file:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\PunkBuster\BF2\pb\pbcl.cfg
with Notepad and add a line that says:
pb_Sleep 500
If there is similar pb_Sleep line in the file already, then edit it accordingly.

sounds like an overheating/hw problemDarkM wrote:[I join a server and am able to play for a bit and then suddenly my screen freezes and either the land goes black for a bit and then I am able to play again for a minute
check your temps
check your ram for defects (kfsone's MemTest Home)
keep windows up-to-date
keep your drivers up-to-date (maybe one became corrupted?)
make sure BF2 and PB are allowed (to acces the internet) by your personal firewall
btw: would be cool if you'd tell us what you have already tried so we don't have to assume you did something which is mentioned in a Sticky when you actually skipped it
Got a PROBLEM? Check this: PR:BF2 Installation Guide
Got a common QUESTION? check here first: PR:BF2 FAQ, MUMBLE FAQ
"Hello, IT! ... Yes, have you tried turning it on and off again?"

Re: PnkBstrB.exe Heartbeats Stopped
Going to 'services' and resetting all 3 windows for Punkbuster B to auto restart...then restarting Punkbuster B works for me, at least for the rest of the night.
Try deleting firewall 'rules' for Punkbuster A and B, then reboot.
Create new 'rules' for Punkbuster A and B.
PS'[R-COM wrote:thepalerider;1239790']Punk Buster not updated:
Before you go online to join a server
you should:
1. Download pbsvc
2. Start pbsvc installer, you should see options for install, uninstall, test.
3. Run the Uninstaller, then delete the PB folder to remove any leftover files.
4. Restart your computer.
5. reinstall punk buster files with pbsvc( if your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
6. After pcsvc installs, click the "test" option to check the punk buster install you just did.
5. Make sure it comes back "all green"
6.Download pbsetup(pbsvc DOES NOT install pbsetup.
If your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
7.Create a pbsvc installer shortcut AND pbsetup program shortcut on your desktop.
8.Run pbsetup (from the shortcut on your desktop) add BF2 to the games list, then hit update."
(pbsvc installs the punk buster 'engines' or applications.
PBsetup installs the files/gas the 'engines run)
Check Punkbuster B is set to auto re-start.
To reduce or stop PnkbstrB heartbeats stopped kicks.
Firewall not set up (open) for BF2 and punk buster
UPDATE YOUR FIREWALL
Make sure your firewall has permission for:
BF2.EXE
PBSETUP.EXE
(search for your location)
PNKBSTRA.EXE
path:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\PNKBSTRA.EXE
or (not 100% sure but for 32 bit O/S I think it's)C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW32\PNKBSTRA.EXE
PnkBstrB.exe
path:
"C:\Users"your user name here"\AppData\Roaming\PnkBstrB.exe"
Don't forget to open for BF2VoipServer as well:
C/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/BF2VoipServer.exe
Good luck
Hope it helps

Good example of search before post. That seems to have worked.LUKE_NUKE_EM wrote:https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... y-now.html
Maybe this will work for you?
Thank you.
EDIT: Nope, didn't work. I tried out one of the maps that I lke instead of the smaller maps I was playing and I got the error again. I think it's just the lack of a good computer.
I bought a new and better computer and will be here in 2 weeks or so. I will update this thread if the new computer didn't change anything.

Re: PnkBstrB.exe Heartbeats Stopped
I belive this is a similar to what the link is .. but what ive found is that I have to keep doing this and it works every time now ...
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Scroll down to Punkbstr B Then right click > Select Restart (let Windows Restart the service) < Then Right Click Again Select Properties > Click Recovery Tab Change all to Restart the service >Click apply > Close every thing but the Services window Start PR ...
What I have found is that For some reason Windows likes to terminate the service If you "Alt Tab" even from the main window (Not In a Server) Without the Services console Running
