Similarities to other things?

Post by MardyBum93 »

I have been meaning to post this for a while now, and saw the folder with the pics in so i figured i'd get on with it...

First off here is the picture containing what i think are similarities.
Each similarity is outlined with a different colour
I shall talk you through it

Image

1. Lashkar Valley - Mario World (the colours are so bright they hurt your eyes)
2. Qwai River - Weed (the map in the corner looks like its straight outta the baggy)
3. Starwars Rebel Troops - IDF (on beirut they look like they straight outta endor)
4. Starwars Sandtrooper guns - MEC Autorifleman (same rifle)
5. Starwars Blaster Turret - 50.Cal Technical (if it was scaled up it but it fires like it too :P )
6. Alan Titchmarsh's garden - Korengal Valley (lol)

if anyone ask's i did it for the lols
and to all you mappers and stuff its just a lil joke dnt take it to heart, although they do look similar :P

cheers
Mardy

The similarities between the stormtroopers' rifle and the MG 3 exist because they modeled it after the German MG 34.

All of the weapons in the original Star Wars trilogy are based off of WW2-era surplus weapons. Han Solo's pistol is a Mauser, stormtrooper rifles are Sterling SMGs, Sandtroopers use a Lewis gun, Boba Fett's rifle is a modified flare gun, and the Rebels use modified StG44s in Ep5 and AR-pattern rifles in Ep6.

Not to mention that the original "Stormtroopers" were the special police of the Nazis.
I didn't make that connection for a long time though.

incorrect

WW1 stormtroopers were german soliders who were trained in trench seizure.

German Stormtroopers (First World War)

I expect the negative connotations of stormtrooper came later when people used the name for themselves to associate themselves with the bravery and elite nature of the trench stormtroopers.

Yeah that's true, but the SA (associated with the Nazis) were based on the WWI soldiers in title, and roughly translated to "Stormtroopers" or "Storm Soldiers". Sturmabteilung - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia\

So we're both right. ;-)

The Starwars gun is based on the MG34, the MEC machine gun on the mG42.

The MG42 was developed because the MG34 was expensive to make. The MG34 was mainly used in aircraft because it was a bit more reliable due to the higher rate of fire on the MG42.

I thought the 34 stayed in service because the square barrel thing on the 42 wouldn't not fit in as a coxial gun on the armor ?
I will be looking at the Quai map a little differently now though.
