Are people more cooperative with squads now?

Post by RatsOner »

Well, after taking a bit of a break from online PC Gaming in general, I'm gonna' hop back into PR, especially with the new patch adding Canadian Forces :D

One thing I was wondering though, generally, are people more cooperative when it comes to squads in servers? I found that before, I'd make a 'Sniper' squad with a friend, and someone would come up with a Marksman squad, or Recon squad after, and end up taking the kit, same thing with vehicles, I'd create/be in an Armoured squad a the beginning of a round, and someone would hop in, make an APC squad and take the first thing they see, and ignore you about it.

This was the main thing that put me off PR, the people who would be ignorant of what your squad designation was, just so they could take your kit/vehicle. Can anyone give me some quick insight into this as I download the new version?

I would say it's better but on some of the lesser mantained servsers that stuff can still happen.

From cooperative, it seems to improve slightly. With certain servers with a demand of players to play with certain etiquette or face bans or kicks.

Still PRSP seems shallow with certain people only thinking about themselves.

Yeah man, when I grabbed on to that C7, I was happy. It felt somewhat real, recoil is slightly off but I can't complain.

On most servers, asset stealing is dealt with fairly quickly. It depends on the server and if mods are on, but most of the time it isn't an issue for long.

However, the sniper kit isn't a 'reservable' asset on most servers so there are still plenty of chuckleheads grabbing those kits and heading off to go die or whatever.

So, in short - servers are fairly responsible about this sort of thing in general, but, y'know... stupid happens.

I've seen a major difference between v.87 and v.9 with teamwork. It's not just the "I wanna be hueys, I wanna be attack hueys" and those 2 clowns fighting about it. It's that I can now SL and most of the time I get a dependable squad. Even though I still get that one dumbass that doesn't understand that ENG VOIP INF means that this squad is using VOIP, in ENGLISH, and that it's INFANTRY based. I usually have to kick 1 or 2 people per match for this, and most join my squad really quick to take a)sniper kits b)marksman kits or c)the HAT kits and run off to their SNIPER/HAT squad and take all of the assets and get killed and loose them to the other team.

This usually isn't a problem in my server. I find as a SLer in the =]H[= servers the majority of pubbers are competent and do exactly what you say, as long as you yourself are competent. I do think this patch forces people to stick together.

Yeah, I would have to say that .9 really made the game more associative. Like usual, the infantry are always the backbone of any army. And the update focuses on this a lot by inputing 60 second rally points and the limit count of fire bases. And also the crate count: 1 crate for a fire base, 2 for emplacements. So that makes flying squads (transports) requiring more skill to fly back to resupply and off to the front again without getting shot down.

About the snipers and vehicles, I think it really hasn't changed much in the sense of stealing assets. People still teamkill over them. But that does depend on the servers. Servers that promote maturity and teamwork. Others are on a lower level; inactive moderators or allowing profanity which will bring in a verbal argument as well. But the stresses on cooperation among the infantry does harden some squad leaders. Lately I've been in some squads and they always say no Sniper or Marksman kit *unless they need one like in Yamalia*. And if someone gets it, they will get kicked. But again, that's on some servers.

Overall, the gameplay has become more exhilarating. More teamwork and more people coming into PR. And also the introduction of Mumble *Which I found the most useful on the battlefield* especially, talking about assets. Some servers have active Mumble channels and some people find that it has no point--SERIOUSLY, it helps a lot on the battlefield and communicating with other squads (and leaders). Although it can be annoying ( too much information for one person--so much chatter and people spamming music on their Mumble or just calling out for Medic like crazy) it really stresses on players to become battle harden. Again, .9 applies pressure on more teamwork (especially the infantry) with restrictions and the introduction of Mumble. It even helps with pilots who are asking where you wanna get dropped off instead of typing it (but the engine rotor might be too loud so turn ur mumble volume up).

That's precisely why I stopped using sniper kits. I used to love going behind enemy lines and pluck out the enemy. However, whenever I respawn, someone else ends up getting the kit once it recycles.
