when I launch BF2 it crashes and reboots my desktop (Xp 32 Sp 3) having uninstalled BF2 and reinstalled it just in case something was corrupt. Onmy second installl patch 1.41 it still crashes.

I am downloading the 1.5 patch as well for the second time

I have dwnloded PR v 09

When i try to install PR v.09- it looks to load up Ms Netframework 3.5, then it tells me tere is no connection to the server.

Any ideas or solutions i am not very good at trouble shooting and frnakly i am puzzled..

seems like your general attempts are ok

install bf2, then 1.41, then 1.5, then pr part1, then pr part2

use a download manager or torrent client for non-corrupted files

as of your explainations - to me it is not clear what ctds - is it the installer or the actual game bf2?

I have reinstalled bf2 only no Sf or any other booster pack.

Then i rebooted, installed patch 1.41, rebooted, installed patch 1.5 and rebooted ..
Then launched BF2 it gives me a black and fast blue scree and then reboots my computer.

I have gone 3 time thru this process.

It seems that. EA BF2 has received a lot of compalint like mine with variations on their forums.

I will try to download the files from a torrent.

Are you talking about Patches or BF2 files?
Support at EA suggest to go and clean up the registry files to remove all traces of BF2 apparently this procedure screws up your CD Key Numbers ????
so you cannot register your product.

Could you suggest a safe torrent i have looked at Bitjunkie?

Tks 4 your help

you probably are having either driver problems (maybe gfx)
or corrupted (system) files

-> update your drivers
-> run "chkdsk c: /r"

to be able to read the bsod disable the auto reboot, then google the error code and type:

i have found that i crash because of the following file

viahduaa.sys

It is related to my Via HD audio deck integrated sound chip.

codec vt 1708b

How do i remedy that, short of buying a sound card.

If that is preferable what do you recomand in the 30-40 bucks budget line?

Driver installation would be a first step i think, and then if no luck, try an uninstall, and re-install. If that fails you will have to find a driver cleaner product and use that after uninstall on that sound-card-driver.
