pr.exe has stopped working

Post by mdterp1987 »

Need some help, have tried everything I can think of and have searched around the forum.

When I click the shortcut (or directly on pr.exe) it immediately says "pr.exe has stopped working." Behind this error window is the initial startup screen for PR.

Every older version of PR worked just fine.

I installed BF2 patch 1.5, then installed both parts of the PR mod (after uninstalling the old ones). That did not work so I installed the BF2 1.41 patch then reinstalled the 1.5 patch. Still no luck. This is where I stand currently.

I am running Windows Vista 64 on a 1920x1080 VAIO laptop. Core 2 duo 2.4ghz, 4gb ram.

I'd appreciate any help! Thanks and let me know if you need any other info!

Did you read the first red sticky:
Read This If You Have Pr.exe problems?
It has 12 pages of posts to work through.
You should be able to find a fix that works for you among the 120 posts.

Good luck

One thing to bear in mind is that you can get the PR.exe has stopped working message if its BF2 that has problems launching. It will still give that message because the PR.exe encounters the error when it tries to launch BF2. So check if vanilla BF2 works as well or not, as that can help narrow down the problem considerably.

For example ... a BF2 that is NOT installed from an administrator account ... will be unable to launch properly , but will give the pr.exe has stopped working message.

In fact , if you get the splash screen then it is highly likely that there is something wrong when it tries to launch BF2 as that is what it does right next. (also make sure your profile directories are existing ... that is FIRST before launching PR , launch vanilla BF2 and recover your profiles, then shut down and launch PR)
