skirmish gamemodes in public.

Post by maarit »

so,i have readed somewhere that skirmish gamemodes are for clans...
so why servers are running skirmish gamemodes in public?
many times i have found good server and next map is jabal... what is nice but it is skirmish.

and if i look now with prspy there is examble rulez server what have skirmish going and 32 vs 32...
we have asad khal and some other smaller maps so why we need more small maps with 64 players?
maybe im missing some point there but can somebody explain about skirmish mode?

this pop up my mind cos i REALLY wanna play jabal but no with the skirmish :D

The Skirmish gamemode is for small battles, 6 vs 6 or slightly more.
On most servers, it's used for seeding, or as you've already said, in clan matches.

Well, sometimes after playing a couple of 3+ hour rounds, it is nice to have a quick hectic round as a break.

Running 64 player skirmish should require the server to have a password. Just like how editing the respawn times and assets requires a password. It's not how the game mode was meant to be played, we shouldn't be subjected to it in public servers.

If you need a break from PR gameplay, go play vanilla.

i have to agree with GeZe, it's just nice to have a break from the long games, and i may not have the time to spend three hours online. i think these servers and maps/games are a good alternative to reducing the tickets on the bigger maps, this is a wide ranging community and while not completely leaving the core of the PR experience behind something like this might be a nice option to keep.

Skirmish maps really help seed servers like ours UKWF we run 2 skirmish maps at the start to seed the server and not have to worry about assets being wasted in the process, also silent eagle skirmish is mint! and can easily handle 32v32.

Like you have said, skirmish maps in public server (no clan) are mostly to launch a server with enough players to play AAS or Insurgents. Sometimes, admins stop the party and load a map in the middle when they see there are 30-40+ players ^^.

Although it serves for small battle scales, I like to play skirmish with or without my clan vs or not vs any other clans. It is good for practicing your unscope skill and the CQC tactics. You can truly learn more in skirmish than in AAS.

Too bad, skirmish are just to launch servers or are clan specific....
The best victory is when the opponent surrenders of its own accord before there are any actual hostilities... It is best to win without fighting.
