Korengal as AAS?
Self explanatory really!
I am an infantry junkie, therefore I wonder how would an AAS conventional faction battle work out at Korengal?
No matter what assets where available it would remain very infantry sneaky sneaky.
Opinions, discuss please.
Yes yes I searched....

while i always argue for adding different gameplay types to existing maps, i can't imagine, how a *** on Koregal should work

Re: Korengal as AAS?
Max is right, unfortunately due to the random nature of Korengal there isn't any major points that could be flag caps. AAS tends to favor conventional warfare, IE countries attacking one another. Since the Taliban is an unconventional insurgent group, they stick to IED attacks, vehicle ambushes, and all that jazz.
CodeRedFox made Korengal as an Insurgent map, and thats what its going to stay as. Besides, the Skirmish version is AAS.

Re: Korengal as AAS?
I'd like to see Korengal as Random AAS US Army vs Taliban... By adding tickets to Taliban, I think they would ReALLY work out on their ambushes and flag IEDs...

More than once coalition forces have had to assault fixed Talib emplacements.
Thought it would be a fun infantry based AAS map.

I think its cooler as insrugeny as all the ways the caches can be hid in caves in the nice random villages it makes you really search more than in other insurgency maps.

just like the PRSP I guessMaxfragg wrote:while i always argue for adding different gameplay types to existing maps, i can't imagine, how a *** on Koregal should work
I'd like it if AAS could be worked INTO the insurgency mode again, I miss holding Lanyial (or whateverit was called)
though I'd like some AAS in most maps, I definately miss the desperate defence of VCP on Basrah.

Re: Korengal as AAS?
only problem with that though rudd is people thinking the flag is more important then the cahces, and just sitting there wasting away tickets holding a near pointless objective, or worse, attacking it.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:

maybe not korengal but i definitely think that taliban could be placed in a full sized AAS map, sangin perhaps
afterthought (edit): if it was possible that the flags in insurgency gave intel (like a bleed of intel), so you capture and hold the VCP, you get x amount of intel every x minutes as you quiz the locals that drive through it (i know there aren't any but out of the box thinking for the engine). then it might have some worth

Its to bad we don't have to players to use, then you could do some assault clear and hold game mode just like whats really going on right now.

I'd love to see some conventional BLUFOR vs Taliban AAS maps, but I don't think korengal is particularly well suited.

..... Which ruined so many rounds of Basrah imo, people would build a fob in there and turtle, more people would just keep spawning there until you have hardly anyone attacking caches and those who do have no support = boring.[R-CON]Rudd wrote: I definately miss the desperate defence of VCP on Basrah.
Nearly as bad as people who used to defend the main on Fallujah old main.

Re: Korengal as AAS?
You know what, I love that idea. Currently it is very very difficult for the US to win due to the Taliban's infinite ticket count (only losing through caches) and the extremely tough terrain but I really wonder what would happen in a straight fight. We already have similar scenarios on Asad Khal, Fools Road, Kozelsk, Siege at Ochamchira and Iron Ridge (Conventional faction v unconventional) and I would be very interested to see how it would turn out for the Taliban.
Certainly in terms of armament and function the Taliban are closer to Hamas and Militia than they are to Iraqi Insurgents and with the incredibly rough terrain I think they would more than hold their own.
Would also help simulate another function of the Coalition operations in Afghanistan, besides cache hunting. Particularly in recent operations like Operation Mushtarak the focus has very much been on pushing the Taliban out of their strongholds and AAS would do well at simulating these operations.
I think introducing AAS would give the same result but as a dedicated game mode, providing variety and better games as a result.

It did use to be fun, but for me it was simply a distraction from the overall objective of looking for caches and many games on Korengal for me were spoilt by constant fighting over Outpost/US main (depending on the layer) which took the fight away from the caches.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:I'd like it if AAS could be worked INTO the insurgency mode again, I miss holding Lanyial (or whateverit was called)
