****VIDEO**** - another PR.EXE has stopped working thread...
Hey guys, I'm new here. I searched all over, read the stickies, tried a lot of different things. I'm still getting this stupid pop-up. I went ahead and made a video of it, showing all my paths and what not...
Lemme know if I did anything wrong or am missing a step in trying to get this darn thing to work... THANKS!!!

also, if you "UP" the resolution on youtube, it'll be easier for you to view the text...

Re: ****VIDEO**** - another PR.EXE has stopped working thread...
Nothing wrong from what I could see.
Try starting PR.exe directly but instead of double clicking, right click and say "Run as Administrator", see what happens.
Also try running in XP (SP2 and/or SP3) compatibility mode.
to get an error msg from bf2 you can start it in windowed mode:
change your shortcut's parameters to "+fullscreen 0" ie:
try reproducing the error and
then google the error message you get from bf2 if you do not find a solution post back here

Make sure that you have installed BF2 and PR in an administrator account. If you install it under user account then in theory the UAC will need admin password authorization to run, if you have your settings a certain way you will never see the box that pops up.
Also BF2 needs to be run in administrator mode, so you need to do the same compatibility check for that.
If you have a relocated MyDocuments folder, that causes problems as well.
Check your registry to make sure that the install directory entry for BF2 is what its supposed to be, and that you don't accidentally have some other BF2 keys from another installation kicking about.

are you able to run vBF2?
check the installers for corruption:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... rrupt.html
No-cd cracks or other unofficial patches can have negative effects as well.

Re: ****VIDEO**** - another PR.EXE has stopped working thread...
hey guys, thanks for your help!
as far as your questions go... yes BF2 runs fine. I play it everyday with no issues. It's a legit copy that I purchased from the store. The only patches I've downloaded for it are 1.41 and 1.50... but they haven't caused any problems as far as BF2 gameplay is concerned.
Punkbuster seems to be working fine as well.
I'll try to check the other things that you mentioned, but most of that stuff is greek to me as I don't understand every bit of computer jargon out there even though I consider myself to be pretty well versed on a computer...

Hmmm, it might be a problem with your .NET installation. Is that Vista or Win 7 you are running (edit : I Vista from the thread tag) ? And if its Vista ... do you have Vista SP1 installed ?
Look in a folder in your Windows/Microsoft.NET , open up the framework (and framework64) folders and post a screen shot of their contents ?
Give a few more details about your system if you can.

Use regedit and browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Black Sand Studios\Project Reality
Confirm that the "InstallDir" String exists and points to the directory where "bf2.exe" exists.

K guys... I took screenshots of everything you both asked for below... the system specs are also "clickable" to go straight to the PDF if the below JPG is too blurry for you...

Re: ****VIDEO**** - another PR.EXE has stopped working thread...
Hmm, all seems ok. It has to be something to do with the UAC. Are you in an administrator account when you install and play , or are you in a user account ? Did you install in an administrator account (for all users) and are then playing in a user account ?
Basically installing the game (either BF2 or PR) from a user account will lead to these problems, and at the moment that is the only reason I can think that you are experiencing this.

Yes I'm an administrator, and actually the only account on this computer... so there's not even the possibility of it just being a normal account...[R-DEV]Twisted Helix wrote:Hmm, all seems ok. Yep if its the only account on the machine then its an admin account.
Hmm. Slightly puzzled now.
Do you have your documents folder mapped to another drive ? Do you have Battlefield 2/ Profiles folder in your MyDocuments and does this folder contain profiles ?
Worst comes to the worst I could remote into your machine and have a poke about to see if I can figure it out .... all the times I have done this before though I have come across something really really weird with the OS installation that has usually required the user to reinstall their OS.

Have you tried to run and reinstall with disabled UAC yet?
