The degenerating quality of posts on these forums
Hey Gents,
I know some of y'all like to hang out on these forums and have made friends here and such.
HOWEVER
The spam shit HAS TO STOP.
Far too many potentially useful discussions end up with pictures of cans of spam and single line posts about what color underwear some 14 year old boy is wearing while he's typing a message about what color underwear he's wearing while typing a message.
CUT IT OUT
I do NOT want to spend time moderating these forums, so please....
... Use the newly named "Off Topic & Spam" forum to conduct your spam and STOP posting tripe into every single thread on these forums.
Thanks for your co-operation.
Here's the Forum Rules btw:

Thanks for posting this. Maybe next we can tackle the room-temperature IQs in the News from the Frontlines forum

Really though, this forum is incredibly bad for

The spam in non spam threads does need to come to an end. It is very irritating and seems to have no end. I try my best to keep my spam in off topic.

Can there be a difference between spam and a real conversation without each post being 8 or 9 lines long? I'm not very good with conversations.
EGGMAN EDIT: THIS POST IS AN EXAMPLE OF SUPERFLUOPUS SPAM

yeah...I guess if you guys wanna have a chat do it in the off topic.. the biggest problem for me is that relevant information doesnt get to me or others because of the large amount of extra msg that get piled on top of it...lets make a special effort to keep that stuff in the offtopic...
I often avoid catching up on threads because of the msg volume...
I think everyday how id like to clean up the forums...Of course i think we should still encourage discussion but lets keep it on topic...new idea...new thread...

I kinda agree with this. I do keep myself from acting like a moron on relevant threads that have anything to do with PR. Off topic is for spam, and it is going to be like that for me, and hopefully wolfmaster, and BlakeJr know this too. We do keep our converstaions serious at least when the situation calls for it.
Good post Eggman, I hope you werent reffering to me in any way.

Both Wolfmaster and I HAVE on occasion gone too far with the spam... But I think we (read Wolfmaster) cleaned up the worst of our ... mess ...
On a somewhat more serious note, you DO have moderators on these forums. May I suggest you tweak their ears a little bit for NOT enforcing the rules?
We will all need to take care of what we say and where and hopefully the mods will be around to clean up after us should we happen to "stumble and make a mess"
Edit; speaking of the rules, one rule that is blatantly abused is the sig rule. Even some of the R-PUB guys have sigs that are in violation of the rules.
You need to sort that shit out also.

I am crying with laughter, it is terribly true. LOL.EON_MagicMan wrote:

But I think the shout box should not be so much of a concern, for you can only view 10 posts or so at one time and then they are gone - unless you go to advanced thing but this significantly different to normal posting. And it could also be considered a let off, allowing all people to spam a little, bit like a smoking room - but with no spamming any ware else.
I my self are guilty of pretty much every thing that has been said, in varying degrees.
I will try and slow my typing down and think more carefully about what I say before hand - to help improve general grammar and basic spelling and the actual content.
I must also confess to spamming in normal posts - with both rambling and going off topic.
I do understand why this can be considered rude and annoying. Spamming is a temptation that sometimes I can not resist. I felt the consequences of this in real life, with the loss of a friend, due to rambling mainly.
I must add this is heightened by the inability to presently play PR, although this is not an acceptable excuse, it is a factor in my absurd shout count and often pointless or near pointless real posts.
This actuall post took atleast twise as long to type but it contains (hopefully) no major errors. In the spirit of error spotting, i found 2 errors in quote above by Magicman.

^I think that qualified as the offense you were gonna shoot the dog for.
Oh and sorry to be an *ss, but you gotta do something about that sig.
The rules: http://realitymod.com/forum/t6105-forum ... yspan.html
5.1.3 One 'main' forum sig no larger than 450x120 pixels and one 'minor' forum sig. The total size taken up must NOT exceed 550x200.
I'm not so sure. I mean, we're all used to the Shoutbox containing useless conversations. That's what its for, that's fine and my shouts are as useless as any other. But it does piss me off when somebody starts posting random shouts (Like blabla, spamspam, or poop.) so you can't even HAVE a conversation. The advantage of only 10 posts being visible is also a disadvantage, because it makes it much harder to pick up the conversation again when it's been pushed back by the random shouts I mentioned. You can't scroll back to before the start of the ****, like you can in a forum thread.Top _Cat the great wrote:

Well considering I have had debates on the future of human civilization, the Catholic Church and the bible, and numerous discussions on PR suggestions, I do not feel it is all about spam.
WE can never, get rid of spam completely. It is important part of us, however useless. Similar to dreams, where we do things that we can not do in real life, relating to our everyday lives and therefore help to resolve issues in our mind and relive stress. I believe through spamming we are also able to release our inner child and break the shackles of our rigid and oppressive society!
Jkes all round but you get the general crazed idea.
I EVEN FIND that sometimes people are not interested in highly intelligent and intellectual conversions, more concerned with who won the game or the funny but inherently sexist and abusive website they found!
