part_1_of_2.exe never runs/crashes windows.

Post by =KT=Kilo »

Earlier, I downloaded PR for BF2 and when i did, simply clicking on the files would freeze windows. I ran the hash check and it came up fine. I re-downloaded. After re-downloading I can click and everything just fine, now, i just can't get them to run. I've ran as Admin, I've double clicked, and the windows 7 green bar slowly loads up and stops at one point. I've left it over night and it stays right there. Then, if I try to do anything with my computer, windows completely freezes and I have to restart. The hash check on these are good as well. Am I being completely incompetent about this? Is there a special way to start these or what? If not, how can I fix this? Thank you in advance for the help.

from the FAQs:
Q: I cannot run the installer, it just hangs.

A: If you are running Windows Vista, try disabling User Account Control (UAC). You can also try disabling your anti-virus protection, and any other program that may be interfering with the launch of the installer. If this doesn't help, it may be a corrupted download. You can try fixing the corrupt sectors by using the torrent and pointing the save location to the corrupted installer, saving you having to download the entire file again.
So another thing you can try is to temporarily disable UAC.
Disable your antivirus software or other software that might interfere and block the installer.

A little troubleshooting desciption on how to install on Vista/Win7:
Try with defraging the hard drive and reboot.
Then start the installer ONCE and wait.
Don't do anything else.
If your running Vista with UAC on
watch the toolbar for it.
(Sometimes you don't get a pop up window when UAC asks for permission to run the installer,
instead you see a tab in the toolbar or system tray.).
Your should see UAC or the installer in under 10 minutes.
