Md5tool Mismatch. BF2.exe (len=2048)

Post by Element-X_IV »

Hi

I just started playing PR again this week and am having a problem.
Whenever I play on some servers like UKWF.
After a few minutes I get kicked by pb for:

Md5tool mismatch.. BF2.exe (len=204 8)

I've already tried pbsvc and updating PB.
Reinstalling PR.
Reinstalling BF2.

I'm not using digital version of BF2, I have a DVD.
I've searched the forums for a fix but can't seem to find any except for the fix for the one for mismatched shaders files.
Only servers I can play on right now are Chicago servers.
Can anybody help me fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Re-apply BF2 v1.41 and v1.5 patches. Then re-install PR. Don't use any 3rd party tools to enchance BF2 memory handling or anything like that.

Can you please describe, step by step, how you installed PR, starting with BF2 and its patches and including PunkBuster updates?

This might be a virus, scan your PC!

Also trying to run No-CD cracks or the "large address awareness"-fixed-BF2.exe will also cause this kick. Use the standard exe instead.

Try with a complete reinstall of BF2 + PR.

Make sure you are using the 1.5 final release and not the beta ones.

Both the No-CD and largeaddressaware fixes are included in the offical v1.5 patch, so all third party tools for those are obsolete anyway.

I have been having the same issue with some servers, but most work fine. It seems almost as if it is a problem with how some servers are configed, as if they are not setup correctly as everyone who joins them has the same problem.

I have the same problem and it has quite effectively crippled my enjoyment of the game. Nothing I've tried makes it go away, and it's a real shame I can't play this any longer.

I guess as a learning experience of PC games in general I have a few PROTIPS:
NEVER buy anything from Steam unless it's absolutely necessary.
NEVER run games from steam as it will likely cause issues, especially with punkbuster.
NEVER expect something as good as this to work flawlessly...

I am also getting the same kick. I have read all the threads and tried all the fixes and to no avail, I still get kicked. I am ok for a few days, and then bam.

I am no IT.

ANY fresh help would be so appreciated.....

This should help :

1. Download pbsvc
2. Start pbsvc installer, you should see options for install, uninstall, test.
3. Run the Uninstaller, then delete the PB folder to remove any leftover files.
4. Restart your computer.
5. reinstall punk buster files with pbsvc( if your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
6. After pcsvc installs, click the "test" option to check the punk buster install you just did.
5. Make sure it comes back "all green"
6.Download pbsetup(pbsvc DOES NOT install pbsetup.
If your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
7.Create a pbsvc installer shortcut AND pbsetup program shortcut on your desktop.
8.Run pbsetup (from the shortcut on your desktop) add BF2 to the games list, then hit update."

Ok, I did that but I'm still getting the error. I'm running on a 32-bit vista. The game also lags for online servers, even on low detail (everything set to low).
