[0917] CTD trying to join any online server

Description:
Just installed 0917. Restarted my computer. Joined about 12 different online servers, and it loaded through the map, then when I click "squad assignment" I get an instant CTD, no error message.

Steps to Reproduce:
Log into account
Deployment
Random server
Load..
Crash when you click "squad assignment"

12 Different Servers, all have the 0917 patch.

Have you tried loading a local server to see if that crashes also? That is where you crash if you join a server that is not actually patched.
Please post your computer specs and if you used the patch or the full install, if full install did you remove your previous installation?

Same problem, turned textures down to medium and AA off problem solved

I also am experiencing this. Choose a server It loads up and just before it goes to ingame it crashed back to desktop everytime...

Please make sure you are joining servers that are updated to the same version.

When I try to install after putting in the password, it asks if I have v0.9 installed which I do, then the installer crashes to desktop.

I preloaded through a torrent

We all (OD-S) updated and were all joining the same servers, but when I get to Verifying Client nothing happens, and after a while it crashes.
Joined another server, same thing happened but now at 62% loading.

Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512
2GB Ram
2.5Ghz Intel Core 2 Quad CPU

All settings on max, but setting textures to medium doesn't do anything.


Local works, but not online.

Try joining the New York server on beirut, that is definately updated.

Ahh I see your point.. I just searched through and made sure the server I picked was already updated and it worked.. It let me in

No probs, be mindful that many servers may not of updated yet as its quite late in the day in Europe.

I'm getting the same problem.
Just updated to Windows 7 aswell and the problem is still there. (Was on Vista before).

Game crashes with no error just before the "squad assignment" button should show up.

Have you guys tried joining a vBF2 server? (Note you need BF2 v1.5). While I was trying to figure out a fix to a CTD I had (when you double click to join a server (or click "Join a Server") the music fades and you simply crash to desktop - fix for it, if anyone wants to know or ever googles it, was to re-download the full game (I had it saved on a CD (v1.41) so I would just need to update it using EADM (game was downloaded there)).

So, make sure you re-download it COMPLETELY, from SCRATCH, whether it is from STEAM or EADM. If you have CD, re-download the patch (also for EADM version) from a trustworthy website (not virus-related, more integrity related you know?) Also, make sure you use programs that allow for re-start if the internet disconnects, and faster than a simple download, like BitComet and GetRight (I use bitcomet for EVERYTHING, from downloading ARMA 2 addons to everything else bigger than 1MB in size )

Also, look at EA's Questions and Answers database: you normally find useful stuff there...

Also, try re-entering your CD-key (google how to re-enter CD-key on BF2).

Right... i load up project reality click deployment update the server list etc and as soon as i join the server the game crashes i know i have the latest version because it says in the bottom left corner PR v0.917 and all of the servers i try to join have the exact same numbers in the server name i have uninstalled both project reality and bf2 3 times and still the same problem the order i do it in is: install BF2, install BF2 patch 1.41, install BF2 patch 1.5 install project reality part 1, install project reality part 2 and then i patch PR but still the exact same problem. anyone help me?

I've never been able to play Silent Eagle for this reason. Every time I try to load that map game CTD when verifying client data.

I used to CTD everytime. Turned out to be Steam overlay. IDK if youre having the same problem.
