Mumble,Mumble,Mumble....Keybind probs

Post by [FH]Ravvie »

Hey guys not 100% if this should go here but i couldn't find a place as such for it! so please forgive if its in the wrong place!

I been using or "trying" to use mumble as of lately as i know of the positives of this :)

The problem being is ive tried to set up my Mouse with my binds ( which id much prefer) (Logitec G9 Mouse) This mouse has 2 "side buttons" which are perfect for Mumble situations, problem being is that when i alto tabbo outta game it will work the way it should, Alt Tab back in game and nothing?? Not a whisper?? I know mumbles on because i gotta use my KB to speak with it, its just a pain in the bum trying to work with the keys, Has anyone else got any ideas in a possible reason why this would be?

Thanks in advance guys!

It appears that BF2 is blocking the mouse input for use of other lower priority applications. I suggest you use Setpoint to bind a keyboard key that you do not use to the button (i.e. "Home", "Page Up", or the num keys etc) this will cause Setpoint to simulate the press of that bound button, which then can be recognized by mumble.

In short:
Setpoint -> bind "Page Up" to "Mouse 4"
Mumble -> bind "Page Up" to "local speech"

It is important that you do not have any other hotkey or BF2 function use "Page Up" (in that example).
I use this technique as a work around to bind the medic bag and epi-pen to my mouse buttons (which are not recognized by BF2). However I do use a razer mouse and its driver, though I am convinced that SetPoint supports custom keybindings as well.

There is actually no real need for that, you can use mumble overlay (Configure -> Settings -> Overlay -> tick "enable Overlay")
this will display a list of players on your screen, when ingame. When you transmit using local speech your name will be colored bright white (as opposed to grey during idle) or red for using force center.

I have a G9 too and I've noticed that Setpoint is really proficient at failing to activate correct profile. Every now and then I have to do all kind rain dancing around it to make it load my Gaming settings again. So make sure you have the right profile active when your mouse buttons stop working with Mumble.

I've been having the same problems with binding Mumble actions to my G5.
With your instructions, do you set the key in the PR game profile? Because I don't want to eliminate the normal key setting outside of games.
