Fix for Vista crashing with high textures?

I can the play game perfectly fine at max settings, but as soon as I turn textures to high, I can play maybe one map and then the next crashes while loading. I know this has been happening for a long time and lots of people who use Vista have it, but has anyone found a solution yet? I'm using 32 bit Vista by the way.

go 64 bit and minimum 4 gb ram, no more mem crashes, and go win 7 .
