Arming distance of AT4 M136?
Hi there, I'm not sure about this but ingame, the arming distance of the AT4 is something like 60-80 meters right? Can't remember it because I haven't been trying to rocket jump lately with it.
Anyways, found a sauce that says it's actually 10 meters. FM 23-25 CHAPTER 2 (M136 AT4, OPERATION AND FUNCTION ) <- Sauce
If the arming distance is about 10m ingame, forget about this thread, lock it and throw away the key.

I was just saying that I haven't fired it at a close target.

Oddly enough I was playing Jabal as MEC using the LAT, which I believe is coded the same as the AT4 is. Came under fire, knew I was going to die so I decided to fire the rocket at my feet. Whattya know, it exploded, armed immediately, and killed me. So who knows if they do arm at that range. Will have to look at the code.

I think all form of explosive projectiles explode on contact with immovable objects like the ground, houses and things like that. But they 'phase' armored targets.

sig size??????? Smiddey723
i've never fired a LAT at anythign under 10m
and if it doesn't explode under 10m whats the point of it since it can't be used in close combat

Yeah what possibly could be the point of a light anti tank weapon that isn't useful in CQB

Maybe he wants to fire it through windows and doors to clear buildings.
Use the LAT for Light Armoured Vehicles, it's not some sort of long range grenade or a bazooka you can just use to kill infantry.

Well, there was this one time where my squad got steamrolled back in 0.874 from a BTR-60 on Jabal. He was on the mountain road approaching us double quick. We got into cover but by the time my AT4 was ready he was about 20 meters away from us. I took my chances, fired. It phased right through him.
Also, this is project reality. If it arms after 10 m IRL, it should do so ingame.

It is used against infantry in real life and I have used it in PR. AT4 is an effective weapon not only against light armoured vehicles, APC's, but against infantry, as well.qaiex wrote:Maybe he wants to fire it through windows and doors to clear buildings.

I agree with Sakils, many a time its come in useful for clearing rooms out on Asad Khal, of balconies on Muttrah.
But I'm sure if you fire an AT4 at your feet IRL the missile is going to explode from the impact?

I have a few deaths in PR that can attribute to the fact that the AT4 and other light AT kits arm just as soon as they hit the wall infront of my face.

I think the mod should be renamed to Project Teamwork. Just sayin.Nehil wrote: Also, this is project reality. If it arms after 10 m IRL, it should do so ingame.
And I think the at4 arms itself immediately after launch. I tested it in coop maybe its different in mp.

I like. But I think the name should stay. There are things that piss me off too, like the Hueys with no door guns, but that's going to be resolved when GPMG are made, i.e. the M240.

Re: Arming distance of AT4 M136?
From what my army instructors told me the swedish version of the AT4, or the original Pansarskott m/86 arms after 30 meters, and is effective to up to 200. That is also what the SoldR Mtrl Vapen book says.
That same webpage also says that the USMC and Global Security teach that the effective firing ranges are 10-300 meters. I would trust that the arming of the round is definetly done after 30 meters, and hopefully done after 10. Would like it to behave in-game as irl, where it isn't armed directly after launch.

This would also help when you accidentally kill yourself by hitting the balcony railing you're standing behind.

Agreed. Project REALITY should be as close to REALITY as it can get.Nehil wrote: Also, this is project reality. If it arms after 10 m IRL, it should do so ingame.

Not at all costs. It is also a videogame, and it should entertain people, and that shouldnt be forgotten.Darknecron wrote:Agreed. Project REALITY should be as close to REALITY as it can get.
