Size: 2km

Al Basrah v2 is now included in PR v1.4! :D

See PR Highlight posting:

Al Basrah v2 is a custom map of the official Project Reality "Al Basrah" map made by [R-DEV]duckhunt.

I changed the sky, terrain, static objects, vegetation, added/replaced some buildings, fixed some bugs and relightmapped everything.

Additionally, I created two "real" FOB's to have better defendable places. These area's are on the edges of the map so it doesn't hurt gameplay for insurgents but adds variety for both sides.

Here is a list of the important changes:
  • More viewdistance.
  • Updated fog and sky settings.
  • Relightmapped everything.
  • Replaced all Hesco walls with the updated versions.
  • New GB main layout
  • Extended VCP
  • Replaced VCP bunkers and sandbags with Hesco Sangar's
  • Terrain and vegetation has been changed alot, so insurgents have more cover.
  • Removed landbridges (shallow water). You must use bridges or CSB's!
  • The buildings in the "slums" got more walls inside to create smaller rooms.
  • The so called "gas station" is now really one.
  • North and south construction sites have been replaced with other buildings.
  • Added new buildings around i3 (no cache locations)
  • Updated combat area
  • The highway south of gas station got ramps.

Haha, it looks like the only contractors that didn't finish their project were the ones building the site to the Southeast of the mosque. Since it appears that all of the other previous construction sites were completed. :D

Also I like how the "gas station" is now actually a gas station.

It looks pretty awesome.

I never remember it ever being a gas station...EVER..must've been before .5 or someone called it gas station and it just stuck.

Is PRSP support still gonna be avalible?
and will the apache still be in-game?

Otherwise much better, looks more modern PR, not 0.8 PR
Thanx

Unfortunately the building can't be made brighter but it isn't too bad if you are close:
Retexture it and add the new file to the objects_client, Basrah already has it set up due using custom billboards.

Also minimap please and agreed on overgrowth, paint it a bit randomly and delete spots here and there to make it look more natural.

It did have a gas station where the VCP is now.

True but I was talking about the location on the main North South road at the bridge, where the unarmed version of Big Red now spawns, I've heard it be called Gas Station all the time.

Put the building in the shade of another building (and make it smaller) so the shading makes more sense.

It is not released... That is the older version, I think Battle is working on it to remove the link to prevent confusion.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I don't know if im able to modify the texture of the russian building, but I'll try when I'm back from my trip. Never messed with it before ;)
Including it is no problem.

PRSP: I've no clue with PRSP and don't care much about it currently.
Apache: Nope. Transport only.

OK, here is the map overview.

If you want to get rid of the land bridges, why not just sink them? Tank traps look really weird like that....

I'm sure I told you this back in 2008 with the Original V2, but I love you. :)

It's a gameplay test. If it's too hard for blufor it can be reverted more easily.
Additionally, if someone miss the change with the lowered terrain, he will sink the precious assets in there ;)

Of course I'll change this if the landbridges are removed permanently.

Edit: Tank traps have been removed and terrain is lowered.
