Having trouble linking my EA account to my Playstation account.

So I'm trying to link my EA account to my PSN account so I can get veteran statues for BFBC 2. You're supposed to go to this link to add you PSN to your EA account. https://profile.ea.com/myprofileAdd.do When I go to the link I log into my EA account and then say add account "destructobot64" to PSN network and every single time it comes back with this message. "Sorry, that PLAYSTATION Network Online ID has already been taken. Please try another one." How can I link the 2 accounts? It shouldn't be this hard!!!

On that page is this little tidbit.. Have you tried this?

You can link both your Xbox LIVE Gamertag and your PLAYSTATION Network Online ID to your EA account directly through your console. Simply register in-game using the e-mail address you logged in with.
