What I enjoy about PR

Post by PLODDITHANLEY »

Recently I've been wondering around servers alone (coz I've got no friends sniff sniff).

When you are in a sqaud as SM or SL and through comms and friendly nagging 'oi (insert name here) we're moving out you coming? You manage to help bind the squad together into a reasonable force. So often I see on the more 'casual' servers SL's that don't seem to do very much to encourage squad work so I, perhaps annoyingly, help out and 9 times out of ten it works.
Three nights on the run I have joined very random squads and chivvied them along a bit and it is easy to see the players clearly enjoy it more.

We can all sit here and winge about teamwork but if we all take a little time to SL or even as an SM (on normal servers) try to help out a bit - thus people experience alot better what PR is all about.

Taking the time to teach your SL how to correctly place SL markers, taking the piss out of micless players (in a friendly way), encouraging passing messages via text, manning defensive positions, encouraging guys to try Mumble.

This is a community and all the new 0.9 guys need our help to totally experience what PR is all about.

I am a realist (pessimist according to many) and if the old players go out into the cursed earth (spot the Judge Dredd reference) badlands alone to bring good PR play to the masses we will all profit. Plus IMHO the nice feeling when a squad of clanless, never played PRT, actually have a tactical round is great you can tell by their voices they're having a great time (you on the next round? is a sure sign). If you can operate with humour and pisstaking it can be a very rewarding experience.

If all the experienced players just once in a while go 'out there' with maybe one buddy instead of always playing with their mates on their home server i am sure the general teamwork and gameplay quality would improve.

We are a community so try and give something back?

That is true --- some of my buddies change teams to play in my squad :) Or the other way around as well ;) Some of them were new to the game and rejoined my squad the next round.

A guy in Silent Eagle, which was also new, said I was the first SL to actually make the game fun (no auto-compliment intended) - probably because of my no-snipers in my inf squad rule, or tactics, or all the other stuff you know?
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D
