[Help] Im New to BF2 Modding

Hey my names TwEaK, I'm new to BF2 I know its old but anyways I am interested in modding BF2 to my likes now I haven't done this before nor do I know how or what to do. I hear that you can play "Online" Legit with a MD5 changed file or something I'm not sure how that works but it might be explained in someone's response so I'll wait, I would like some suggestions possibly vids, TuT's and some nice easy ways to start off. I would like to play BF2 Online that would be nice if someone would suggest a way besides Garena/Lan Networks. This is slightly a simple way to start off and I think here is the place to do it .

And you can not tweak BF2 itself and play online without getting kicked by punkbuster. If you want to play online with modified or new content, make a new mod.

Thats not what I was told, There is a specific file that has to be changed I COULD be wrong but I wouldn't know... I'll see thx for the response

The only other way to add new content (but not modify existing content, unless you do it under a new file name) without making a new mod is to make a new map (or clone a old map and rename it) and then pack the new content into the map files but that isn't the best rout.


If you could modify content and then play with normal players on a BF2 server, people would exploit it by making for one team, all of its soldiers and vehicles plain red, and the other team plane blue, and all the terrain, buildings etc green and could easily pick out targets ie, hacking/cheating.


So either who ever told you that you can dosen't have any idea what he is talking about or you misinterpreted what he said.
