CH-124/CH-148

Post by Imchicken1 »

Both are helicopters used by the Canadian airforce. They're generally ship based transport/anti-submarine choppers. I was thinking it'd be fairly cool to see one of these in games, and it would give the Canadian forces a chance to have a sea based assult or a map near the ocean/sea. It'd be more realistic to have one of these rather than a chinook.

CH-124 Sea King (Canadian variant of the US chopper)
Very old and meant to be replaced by the CH-148 Cyclone

CH-148 Cyclone
28 ordered to replace the CH-124 by 2009

Since the CH-128 will replace the CH-124 i would stick with that one, second thing to ask yourself is that its a naval transport helictoper, does the Canadian faction have any naval maps ingame or in the making.

Isnt the CH-148 another variant of the German NH-90 Helicopter?

If so when the germans come in you could jsut use the same model although it would take alot of time :(

No, the CH-148 aka Sikorsky S-92 is not the NHIndustries NH90. The S-92 is the bigger younger sibling to the S-70 or as many know it the H-60 Blackhawk.

The reason why they haven't been suggested before and we have no plans to make them is pretty clear, they are a naval helicopter with there main role being in ASW.

I can understand that you might want to see an Amphibious Assault map for the Canadian forces, but first of all before you can get that, you firstly need an assault ship / carrier. Looking over the Canadian Navy, they do not have any Assault Ships or Aircraft Carriers.

This means that the only way you would be able to use these choppers ingame (other than them helping out the army or w/e) is if you had a Destroyer or Frigate to launch them from, and then you would have to do some kind of SF map to make that realistic since a full on beach landing wouldn't be conducted from one or multiple destroyers/frigates, and then you would still need to make a destroyer or frigate (or both :p ).

As such, its a huge amount of work with very little gain to be making both a bunch of new choppers and ships, only to have a few small SF missions which would also require a new game mode.

Well Rhino depend on whats the Timeline of P.R., 2010 or a near future like 2014 ? or something like, cause actualy DND is looking to buy/build A.A.S., and J.S.S., so Canadian Forces might have them in a near future. Based on the French Mystral Class or the British Albion Class.

Unless they are building them now there is little hope of them being in service any time soon. Took like what, 6 years to get HMS Daring commissioned from the first steel cut? Even if they started building a new AAS tomorrow, I wouldn't expect it for at least anouther 6 years at best so that's 2016 at the earliest, more like 2020 thou in more realistic terms if the Canadian navy is really committed to getting a new Assault Ship as soon as possible.

I was thinking more of a coastal based map where Canadians already have a foothold on a beach...
I'm didn't suggest these choppers without considering any extra work that would be needed to create the map. A destroyer/frigate based landing wouldn't go so well either when it comes to game play i think..

EDIT: At least put it on the *** list. That way these choppers are known if anyone's ever needing or wanting something to model, and if a canadian coastal map is planned

Still,it could take place in 2016-2020,remember,political members in their government, maybe getting more people and pressing alot on their Air and Naval Forces. So to say, they could have also gotten lend lease ships from the USA and UK as in the Project Reality Universe,Russia has declared war on Canada and the USA and everyone of USA and Canada allies have either decided to keep their gobs shut or have been crushed by the Russian Armed Forces,so we could instantly say the UK secretly gave Canada Assault Ships they had to repel the Russians,it is possible.

Ok Infantry1242 I tell you what, you go and model HMS Ocean or the Albion Class LPD and then we can consider your idea.
