HD 4870 1GB XFX
Well my computer details are as followed
Dual Core E5400 2.7GHZ (No OC)
ATI HD 4870 1GB XFX
2GB Ram (Virtual Ram is around 4GB)
Windows XP Home
500GB Western Digital HDD 32 MB Cache
Problem is with my ATI card I get around 30-80 FPS (Varies a lot) on Muttrah City in the populated areas I get around 30 in non populated it shoots to 80 but the thing is I have seen people with the same card and near same system specs tell me they get tons more, how is it possible?
My current CCC Version is 8.11 (Friend told me its best for 2004 and older games) I tried with the 10.5 CCC but it would not let PR work... How do I get more FPS?
P.s, all settings are on Med expect lighting and shadows which are on low.

Like I said people with the near enough same type of stuff (Meaning maybe a better powered Dual Core not bigger like a quad though) get way more FPS then I do..

Maybe a faulty card? My 4870 1GB worked fine with PR and CCC 10.5 (then it died...but thats a diff story) and I got 100FPS constant on max. Also. Try memtest and other things to test the other components in your computer.

Well, what you call people with nearly same type of stuff might have E8400 or equal type of dual core processor which makes some difference.
Also keep in mind that it's not uncommon to have unstable FPS in PR. We've seen people getting different numbers on same maps.
I have E8400 @4GHz 4GB Ram and 8800GTS 512, my fps changes between 30-40 to 100.
I suggest you test your system in other games to see if it generates proper fps as it's supposed to.

Re: HD 4870 1GB XFX
Fuzzy is there anyway to tell if its a faulty card? I will install PR on my Dads PC which is the same setup (I built it with him lol) and see if its different.
Kilgore I seem to get good FPS and stable FPS in BF2 and BF2142 and other games that do support ATI a bit.
EDIT: Could it be a corrupt PR by any chance I get these black spots all on the floor for some reason.
Downloaded PR from the torrents.
EDIT: Tested on my dads PC his specs are as follow.
2.6 Dual Core E2180 (OC'ed from 2.0)
4gb ram (Virtual ram at 6gb)
HD 4870 1GB same model same day it was delivered was together
Windows Vista x64
OK for some weird reason it is higher... All Med = 100 FPS... All high = 60 lowest on high was 30...
CCC Version is 10.5

Torrents are unlikely to be corrupt, they do error checking as they download or something similar iirc. It's one of the advantages of torrents. If PR was corrupt then it would just not work, or if it was the assets which were corrupt you would get md5 checksum errors and would get kicked.-5Stuart3- wrote:EDIT: Could it be a corrupt PR by any chance I get these black spots all on the floor for some reason.

The black spots you're seeing would either suggest corrupt/crappy drivers, or that your graphics card is overheating. Check it's not getting too hot, check the case of the computer, if that's warm it's probably getting toasty inside - and find some software to monitor the temperature of your gpu. It might be the fps is down to drivers and the visual artifacts are down to overheating.
edit: also, what's your power supply, it's unlikely it would cause these kind of problems but worth checking. Oh and your CPU may be causing a bit of an instable framerate - Bear in mind bf2 only uses one CPU core, and that a fast GPU requires a fairly nippy CPU to do the graphics calls. Others might be getting better frame rates because although they have dual cores they might have significantly higher clock speeds.

GPU/CPU on both PC's it does not overheat, GFX Card on both go to around 80 which is not in the red on it and is fine / not over heating, my driver on my dads PC is 10.5 and I still see the black spots on max and med.

Ram helps sure but my virtual memory makes up for the needed ram.

Re: HD 4870 1GB XFX
It's unlikely that both cards are faulty, black circles don't mean that.
It's got to do (if I recall correctly, had this issue a few times) with software:
either the new driver version and/or old shaders directory/settings.
Open a new windows user account or delete your
current BF2 folder under My documents, and that should solve the black circles.
You can try the (freeware) program called Furmark, and run the stability test for a few minutes,to ensure that the cards are not defective.

BF2 came out in 2005,PR in 2006.Use the newer drivers, and get a new friend j/k-5Stuart3- wrote:

I contacted a CCL online helper, and he has forwarded my RMA request. (With the SS)
EDIT: Sending cards off on Monday to be tested by CCL.
