Faster sighting in of Marksman Rifles/AR Guns.

Post by richyrich55 »

I searched for about 30 mins for something like this but I couldn't find much related to my suggestion. If it's been suggested, just lock this thread.

If you use the AR or MR, it takes a fair bit of time before the scope meets your "eye". I am suggesting you decrease that time so it's not so damned slow.

I can't think of an example at the moment.

what is your rationale?

the weight of teh LMGs would surely support a slower scope in

though the DMRs should be pretty muh the same as the assault rifles I guess, if they arent already

The current time it takes to sight in a DMR or AR could mean life or death.

DMR's should be roughly the equivalent of the Assault Rifles, yes. I knew the LMG's would be a longshot though. So just forget about them I suppose.

I would like to see the M21's replaced with the M39 EMR's since the M21's are Sniper Weapon Systems (SWS's). Keyword there is "sniper".

Believe it or not, thats the whole point. Like my main-mayn Rudd has said, the increased sighting time is a reflection of how the weapon system is harder to 'handle' in CQB, due to the weapon being heavier than the average rifle, or requiring a more careful and steadier stance whence firing.

In almost every case, it is possible to equip an iron sights variant of the weapons you mentioned, where these penalties are usually negated. So if your in a tough spot, its likely your own doing, not the fault of the weapon/coding.

I think you would agree that in a tight urban environment, the carbine would have the natural advantage over the DMR, or even the hefty LMGs with inappropriate optics.

I don't understand the point of having unscoped DMR's then. :? ??:

You still have the ability to lay down highly accurate fire at long ranges, as the accuracy of the weapon itself remains. It now means you have a means of defending yourself in close areas, however at the cost of some of your effectiveness over the greater ranges.
I often don an M14 irons on Mutrah city and find the greater accuracy, increased stopping power and decent handling of the weapon really useful.
It takes some getting used to, but I find getting kills up to around 450m is not uncommon with the irons DMRs.

PR got those already?... For the USMC?...

I also believe that the sight-in time is quite long, especially for that of deployed weapons, how long does it take to put your eye to a lens?

its not just about looking down teh scope, its about your eyes adjusting etc.

If i am not mistaken the scope in time with AR and DMR undeployed isnt much greater than assault rifles... if it isnt the same actually...

In that case you fail for constantly using the deployed version.

(Going to test it right now)

Back, yes undeployed version of all rifles (except the sniper wich is deployed by default) with scopes sight in at the same speed.

Ironsights sight in faster, deployed versions sight in slower.

I've noticed that myself already, and as an AutoRifleman I normally stay in deployed mode unless we're heading into tight quarters as I normally try to stay behind and take an over-watch position as my squad moves ahead of me.
I have also found that the ironsight M249 undeployed is probably the scariest weapon in the game for CQC. High rate of fire, large clip, very high accuracy, quick sight-in. That and the ironsight DMR rifles are very good CQC weapons due to high caliber and accuracy. As mongol said, the ironsight M14(M21) is a very good rifle even with ironsights. I haven't been as good of a shot at long distance myself, but I have seen it used at medium range quite accurately.

Thats why if you intend to fight in cqb, you grab the iron sight varients which sight in faster. The point is so that long range weapons and/or weapons with long range optics are to be used for precisely that, long range. Its alot easier to shoot at close range with a simple sight than a scope.

And if you're using deployed all the time its your problem not game's. Its perfect right now.

Why do people think that deployed and undeployed work the same way? Common sense is not so common...

Zephyr didn't say he had a problem with it, I believe that was the OP...

Hey Chiz guess what? You are now on my bunny list. Congrats. Next time don't be a meanie.

To the others, thank you for your replies. I'd still like to see a slightly faster sight in time though.

I'm going to lock this up now, a couple of replies here have not been what I would call civil and this has in fact been mentioned on the forums before anyway. The increased scope in time is a representation of the greater difficulty inherent in using these more specialised/heavier weapons, think of it in the same way as deviation is a representation of weapon sway/fatigue etc, all things that are limited by the engine.

Also, remember to use the report post function if you think a post deserves the below response and it will be dealt with in the appropriate manner.
