I have an AMD Phenom 2 x4 920 quadcore running on 3.01 ghz, 4 gigs of DDR2 RAM and an HD4870 512mb and am running windows 7. You'd think that PR would run smoothly with those specs. But, it runs quite bad: Fallujah for example has the worst performance, then comes Gaza Beach, it is still playable, but I get around 30 fps or maybe a bit higher or lower sometimes. And then there are other maps where I have decent FPS like Yamalia, (80 - 100) but even on those maps on quite some occasions I get low fps (45-50 ish or lower: on Yamalia when I zoom in on the fields) in certain spots. I really don't get the terribly low performance of a mod (even if graphically improved) of such an old game on my, not super-new but quite highspec rig.
I had to get this out, because I want the performance to be good so badly as I really fell in love with the mod, even though I just started playing off 0.91 (I would seriously make a joy-dance dedicated to the PR-Gods). I see other people with better specs (I remember a guy with GTX-280 in SLI (I think) who had terrible performance too) than me having problems too and then there are people with lesser specs or the same specs as me who are having perfect performance. It's just plain strange. Having higher framerates in Crysis than in a BF2 mod isn't quite right I guess...
I set my pagefile to 1.5x the size of my ram on an unused, by neither PR nor OS, partition.
And I set my textures to medium, because of a different problem: CTD's on 14% of every mapload (out of nowhere this problem appeared, before I had everything on high).
So, I hope that in the next release or maybe even earlier, the framerate problem that so many people are experiencing will be solved. (I heared from different people that in previous versions framerates were perfectly good...).
