uninstalling unneeded modules

Post by Sgt_carbonero »

Hey Guys,

I have the most current .91 version installed but i noticed in my add/remove programs i have a ton of stuff i'd like to get rid of. I just want the most relevant modules, nothing more.

This is what i have:

PR 0856 Core

PR 0856 Levels

PR 0860 retro pack 1

PR 0874 operation snow storm

PR reality 0909 full-part 1 of 2

PR reality 0909 full-part 2 of 2

PR 0917 Patch

I just want to make sure if i uninstall any modyule it wont screw up my install, I have Vista 64 current.

Thanks for the help,

Carbonero

Toss 'em all. You can download the full PR 9.17 part 1 &2 for backup.

Thanks for the advice, although i'd like to not have to re-download / re-install everything. I am currently running 0917.

What can I safely delete?
thanks again,

bummer, uninstalling those somehow removed the pr.exe file. Gonna have to reinstall.

Thanks anyway for your help!

On a different note, i run quad-core vista and need to set affinity to one core to play or i get the dreaded 0x0124 error. Do you know of any workarounds to this? would upgrading to win 7 help?

thanks again,

That add/remove programs list is always going to list a ton more PR installs than you currently really have. The best bet is to every time you update PR do a full uninstall from add/remove programs and then full install.

Even though its saying its got all those installed it doesnt mean you have all those Gigabytes being used up, only the most recent install is there. MAYBE, just maybe an odd file or two if you didnt patch correctly or something but yeah, youre not really using up 30 gigs of PR installs :P

When you "remove" and older PR from that list, its also going to delete PR files from the new installs so like you said, you have to reinstall to get it back on anyway

Thanks for the reply,

yeah, i suspected core files would be removed as well, and also when i saw "5 gigs" for x and 6 gigs for y i thought that can't be right....

so, yeah i just decided now is a good time anyway to clear the cobwebs and restart from the 0917 files.

thanks for all the help!

now if i could just play with 4 cores without crashing......!

Mutli core/processor causing errors
If you have more than one cpu or 'core' you can set the 'affinity'(force the game to run on one cpu or core only) through your shortcut by adding
AFFINITY 2
to your shortcuts 'target' string like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +fullscreen 1
Your shortcut can do more. I use:
start +widescreen 1 +szx 1600 +szy 1200 +restart +playerName xxxx +playerPassword xxxx

Replace XXXX with your user name and password

Adding this string bypasses the startup video, logs you in and takes you directly to the server browser.

Good luck
