local area connection doesn't have a valid ip configuratio

Post by gazzthompson »

So one day, my network got bored of working and decided to not work. Screens:

Router restart fixes problem. This problem happens on all computers/laptops (wired and wireless) when they boot.

As usual ive done some hardcore googling to no avail. This is the only "fix" ive seen:

Wired Network Connection unavailable when booting Windows 7 from shut down state

But i dont have that service, which from what ive read comes with itunes or some shit. ive tried updating router(dg834gt)firmware but no fix, The error im getting:

"local area connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration" , Any ideas?

When did this start happening?

Also do this.

Windows key + R
Type "cmd"
In that prompt type "ipconfig"

Give us a screenshot of the results.

You can
A.
Bypass the router and plug it straight into your cable/dsl modem

B.
Configure your PC with a manual IP address,so that it never "asks" for it.

C.
Replace the router firmware if possible:
Router Database | www.dd-wrt.com

D.
Try a different desktop background ? :-P
