Here is the need to know.
I'm working on starting an Insurgency Focused Map.
It is based off of a real google earth image, nearly to scale. And because of where it is going to be based there really isn't a good place to stick in an Opfor 'Main Base'.
In reality.. The insurgent forces would be trying to blend in with the populace. Not having a main base might make the map more interesting IMO.
So here is my IDEAL way to handle how the map would run. NOTE: Some of this may not be even possible. Please knock me down a peg or two if it is not within the power of the engine to do this.
Bluefor will have a standard main base located on the map edge (Highway VCP style)
OPFOR wouldn't have a 'main'. The Map would be built with CP Spawn points for the OPFOR similar to the way Korengal(ver.91) has for USMC. I would like to have maybe 4-6 cps for the OPFOR. Ideally 2-3 of these are only active any given round and they are randomized every time the map loads (to discourage camping).
Vehicles would spawn at various locations around the map on timers and would have to be commandeered by the opfor soliders, rather than handed to them at a main.
Camping these spawns(Vehicle or Infantry), while kinda lame wouldnt hurt the gameplay because opfor tickets aren't counted on INS layers. FOB's will also help spread the love for the opfor.
CAN THIS BE DONE?!

i like the idea i've had this idea since 0.2 but was never put in to my knowledge because i don't think you can randomize the spawn points im afraid but then again you have cache spawns there for maybe you can im not sure however you mine as well just have 2-3 spawns and have them not randomize and use the cache spawns as well

I'm sorry, have you ever played Fallujah?Tomking wrote: Camping these spawns(Vehicle or Infantry), while kinda lame wouldnt hurt the gameplay because opfor tickets aren't counted on INS layers. FOB's will also help spread the love for the opfor.

Not going to work as well as you think.
It hurts the game play full stop because it's stressful and pathetic that it is even possible for them to camp with their vehicles or scoped rifles. Just my opinion though.
I like your map idea and a good design would be awesome. Perhaps keeping a larger area out of play or out of bounds for blufor?
Just a suggestion and I don't care how stupid it might sound because it's better than criticising and not giving any suggestion.

Maybe you can use modified moving spawn plane code from yamalia, so the spawn pointgonna move on some parts of the map whole time. It will be hard to camp these moving spawnpoints. One of problems may be spawning inside buildings etc.

Re: [?] OPFOR Main on Insurgency Maps?
@Ryan. I understand that Campers Are Going to Camp. But I think my idea is not yet fully explained. Let me filet this out a bit more.
On Current Korengal Valley and even in preceding versions - the US forces get spawn camped minutes into the game. This was noticeably broken, so Camp Murphy was removed and the outpost was redone. Now in this newest version there is a static blackhawk spawn for the US and camp-able vehicle spawns in the valley that cost US lots of important tickets. It's a broken system because the BLUFOR has limited tickets and exposed assets. The Taliban forces have a 'random' spawn icon that sends you all willy-nilly to the far corners of the Valley. This for the Taliban is a nice gimmick, but a broken method IMO because having a single infantry spawn and run off by his wee-self is albeit pointless if you're actually trying to win the game. There really isn't a point in having it and it could easily be replaced and be equally effective as a catapult that launches you into the US dome of death.
These broken nuances of the map are the reason why servers like Tactical Gamer that discourage fighting in and out of Main bases and things like camping have stopped playing the map altogether. On the TG server - firing in and out of main on Fallujah (or mostly any other map) is a kickable/bannable offense.
Fixing Korengal playability comes down removing the spawn points that are campable outside of the US main base. Everything is a matter of using common sense to create balance. That and when creating maps.. always knowing that there will always be nitwits that ruin gameplay for the more serious players.
I'm not one to say that fights should be 50-50 because lord knows that is not the case in reality. Asymmetrical warfare is what makes the game so darn fun. It's just looking at the current balance between factions is really important. Before creating a huge upsetting imbalance like on Korengal.
