Mine/Vehicle explosion/blast radius damage reduction (to nearby armored vehicles)

Post by ryan d ale »

Hi.

Okay, I'm sure many of the well seasoned players will know that when a vehicle explodes you better be a good few metres away from it. I have no problem with this :)

My story: I was in a T90 (i think) as Russia on Kozelsk and someone had mined one of the hills on both sides. We successfully evaded the mines on the first side and we already knew where they were on the other side (previous passing).

So, we're coming down and I stop and turn the tank to avoid the mines. I see a friendly APC coming up the hill... I thought, "may as well try and save him and shout mine in teamchat"... even though I had done that just 1 minute earlier for another vehicle passing.

He keeps coming anyway...we must have been 3 (game) metres away from the APC and he's coming towards it and I knew it was going to happen and I thought "well, at least I tried" as I watched the inevitible.

When he struck the mine it also blew up my tank and killed us both.

I'm not sure if this realistic :(

I'm not as knowledgable as I'd like to be on mines.

Basically, it was a bad moment and I thought things could be better and possibly more realistic...so I brought it up here. Being punished for others peoples ignorance isn't nice but it does have to play a part in war somewhere I guess...

Though if I was a gunner in your tank, I would have gladly blasted the APC with my gun just for being stupid
Oh yea because TKing on purpose because you don't like what someone else is doing is so much better and promotes teamplay.

A shot on the ground or coax in the turret could have worked.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

I forgot that I made this thread!

Sadly I don't think anything other than a TK would have stopped the particular APC crew mentioned. I don't want to judge people by their usernames but when your username is implying that gang rape is funny ... I will question some of their characteristics and abilities.

Still no one has really said anything direct about the matter apart from hell duke. I guess it isn't a massive issue because of the unique circumstances that you have to be in to experience this but it is involved in the gameplay.
