I've been wondering, with PR taking place in the near future, maybe 2015-2020, I would assume that the British Army would probably have adopted a new turret with the 40mm Cased Telescoped Weapon System, with a new stabilization system and also replacing the old load system with a dual-feed, automatic feed system.
The 40mmx255 has about similar performance to the 40x364mm R of the Bofors 40mm L/70. It could be very interesting to have an airburst 40mm HE and point detonation HE round, and an AP round powerful enough to destroy all MBTs from the rear and side.

Kit needs to be operating in the field before it gets into PR. Occasionally there are exceptions made, but not for this I imagine.

And we have known about this program for a long, long time and we have also known for a long time that this program was cancelled with the new budget cuts.
