BF2&PR also won't let me change the sound settings to X-Fi/Ultra. I know that other people with these cards have managed to do it so i'm stumped as to why it won't let me.
I run Vista-64, SP2 and have a Xonar D2 sound-card with the latest ASUS drivers installed.
Below is the c&p info from the OpenAL diagnostics program ALCapsViewer:
Interestingly EAX 5.0 doesn't have 'Yes' next to it. These cards as mentioned trick the game/app into thinking EAX 5.0 is installed, and I know from screenshots such as the one here that it should work:The A2A Simulations Community • View topic - Can't hear most cockpit sounds...------------------

My sound setup is 5 speakers, and when using the Windows 'Configuration'/setup utility they are all accurately presented and make accurate [individual] sounds. This is why I think it's OpenAL related - My PC/sound setup does know there are 5 independent speakers but apparently BF2 doesn't.
Thanks a lot guys. I've searched Google and these PR forums all morning but info on Xonar cards is scarce. I've tried every setting and also reinstalled various drivers, including some unofficial modded ones.
As mentioned I do know that this card can provide surround sound in BF2, a Xonar user on these forums stated it and it has also been mentioned in at least one review of the Xonar with BF2.
PS: Seperate issue but may be related: Mumble causes PR to crash to desktop, cleanly and instantly.
