Resuscitate vs Field Dressing

Post by NyteMyre »

So, The resuscitate feature is to make players unstuck from the terrain so you might not waste epipen during the progress. But before this feature was introduced, we used to drop field dressings on the guy to get him unstuck.

Whenever I play medic, it seems i'm back on the field dressing method because it has multiple advantages.

1. Player unstuck (okay, doesn't always work)
2. Player gets a small health boost
3. Makes healing time with the medic bag shorter
4. Player can immediately "see" when revived

I only use a field dressing when resuscitation doesn't work because the body is completely glitched or something.

I rather save the dressings when I need to heal several people at the same time.

To be honest, most of the time you don't even need to resuscitate or toss a dressing.

I drop fielddressings when it's a hot zone revive. Tip, save them for those occasions. As MJ Pain wrote; so they can sprint to cover. Or whenever time spent healing is an issue. Multiple casualties etc.

If I don't feel the need to toss dressing on them, I just use the epipen straight out. If it fails, rarely does ( one gets an eye to detect glitched bodies ), then do the resuscitate or throw dressings and try epipen again.

A tip for glitched bodies is to look for the kitbag. Sometimes when one pumps the kit the body will move into place and be revivable.

I just use field dressing when ressucitating doesn't last long enough.

And I found the reviving with a field dressing below kinda like an exploit.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Of course anyone would use the bandage method first. It takes as much time to deploy as resuscitate and has all those benefits. I always think of critically wounded as minor wound( most of the time); the medic wraps the wound and applies adrenaline/morphine to GTFO of the hot zone.

Gameplay wise, the use of the five field dressings is the subtle difference between good and average medics. For example, knowing that a squad member is slightly hurt during a firefight, throwing a field dressing while running towards him and pulling your gun back out rather than medic bagging him is the difference between one bleeding screen or two dead people. That being said, five field dressings isn't a lot, and a medic should have a tool to prevent lame buggy revives which in reality, is all what resuscitate does.

Can someone explain to me as to why I sometimes use resuscitate and the wounded body becomes revived? It may be a glitch but for that reason I prefer the resuscitate option rather than ripping a whole field dressing

If the fight is over and im simply picking up all those unconcious ill always ressucitate first, mainly to make sure I don't waste those precious epipens. In firefight revive 2x field dressing - epipen tell him which way to sprint and medi bag behind cover.

Can you sprint with just one field dressing after being revived? I always thought it was 2

how do i put this.

You have just notified the police that you are robbing a shop at gunpoint and they are coming to arrest you now.

(for those on whom the analogy is wasted, you just told the Devs of a huge exploit and now they are going to want to Realise it. GOOD JOB! :D )

Since a while back, one can only have one fielddressing at a time, afaik.

How is it even an exploit :\

I do this occaisionally, generally I just stick them with the epipen and tell them to run to me.

Doesn't qualify as an exploit. Is commonly used by many experienced players who remember the time before CPR, and some new ones even.

The instant, complete healing by dropping dressings and then reviving someone has been fixed, or at least made alot harder, by limiting the field dressings that can exist in the world, placed by a single player, to one.

Letting field dressings give a small boost to a recently revived unit can however not be fixed without completely changing health management in PR.

So ya. Known, no exploit, no fix.

The fact that a medic can heal himself by looking straight up/down is also a known "bug"/"exploit" kept in.

Surely a known 'exploit' left in is known as a 'feature'? :P

Seems like field dressing is better at unstucking bodies than resuscitate too. Especially handy when working with bodies that fell down a slope.

I used the hand compresses on someone today because he needed to be pushed down part of a hill that wasn't letting me revive him. If I was forced to use patches then it would have exhausted all of them pretty quickly. I believe that dropping an ammo bag can also have the same effect (untested).
