Blood Splatters in PR
YouTube - Project Reality 0.95 Blood Splatters
I uploaded this a couple of days ago and got a few comments so I figured I may as well post it on the forums. I don't actually know how to embed videos into these forums so until I find out a link will have to do.
The blood spatter effect was taken from the BF2 assault mod, I figured it would be ok because spartan didn't reply to my PM on moddb and I'm only using it for offline use.

You just take this part of the link; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSdz0-vbC8g
And paste it inside tags(without the spaces).

WOW !
It definitaly brings something special in the battlefield. Watching the video, there is no way to deny that the 0:50 part was good.
Too bad it is from someone else and he doesn't answear the contact tries, but I think PR team could develop it won blood splash.
I know they don't like it much because of the hit-box problems, but it does look good in game.

Thanks for your comments and the embed instructions. chuc himself has commented on the video page saying he and the devs will look into it which is good. 1.5 has improved upon the hitboxes so in theory that shouldn't be a problem anymore

There were blood effects added around 0.4/0.5? They were taken out because of an apparent lack of realism relating to hitting someone in body armour and blood spraying out

Re: Blood Splatters in PR
yep I've heard that too, but nowadays a sizable chunk of the factions in PR (Chechen militia, iraqi insurgents, taliban) don't actually wear armour, and although it's a bit brutal the effects dont' have to be that big, the entry wound of a round usually isn't that big(unlike in the vid), but the exit wound is usually quite large due to the round moving so quickly through the target.
It was a valid reason for removing the effect back then, but things have changed now.

Can we regulate these effects to only factions like Taliban, INS, etc.?

Probably not, the effects files aren't faction specific so I doubt it.

someone's gonna have to help me out here, I googled both mootivity and motivity and the only results I got were either cow related or this actual page, so what did you mean?Psyrus wrote:I'm sensing mootivity![]()

It was a play on the word moothobbnob wrote:someone's gonna have to help me out here, I googled both mootivity and motivity and the only results I got were either cow related or this actual page, so what did you mean?
I was going for the second adjective meaning
In essence, it's true that we have 3 factions without body armour, but we have 5+ with body armour, and as you mentioned it's an all-or-nothing change, so it's still more realistic to not have the blood spray than to have it on. So that's why I was saying it's doubtful that it'd be reimplemented as nothing really significant has changed since it was taken out.

i guess it comes down to which is more realistic and imo blood is more realistic than smoke.Gunner_downer wrote:Then again, are the puffs of white smoke it has now realistic?

Re: Blood Splatters in PR
Could it be possible to actually attach it to the armor of the faction? Im not a expert on this but arent unconventional factions using different armor or something like that (clarification please?) or was it just lowered health?hobbnob wrote:Probably not, the effects files aren't faction specific so I doubt it.

Maybe it would be possible to have different materials for different parts of the body. So parts with body armour would have smoke puffs and parts with skin showing would have blood (like how some static objects have metal parts and wood parts).
I dont really know if its possible to do this though.

If it could be done just add the blood splatter for headshots? As I know you dont get blood splatter through Vests and thick clothing soldiers wear. For insurgents tho go nuts.

the effects files aren't faction specific, you can't make a certain file for insurgents and another for the germans for example. Yes I believe there is a specific file for headshots, but modern soldiers wear helmets

If you cannot make effects faction specfic, just use blood spaltter for all headshots, and tune it down a bit.

Re: Blood Splatters in PR
From what I can see from the last 4 videos of soldiers/insurgents taking rounds in current theatres, yes it is. However, it is against the rules to post such videos here. I suggested people search for themselves is they are curious.Gunner_downer wrote:Then again, are the puffs of white smoke it has now realistic?
