BSOD issues! caused by Nvidia GTX280? Win7? HELP!!

Post by cgriffi »

While running PR, getting a ton of BSOD, dumping physical memory. Updated all drivers, still major issues. PR runs great before dump. Tried everything I could find on the forums here, still no luck. Is there anyone that can help?

Effects = low
Geometries = high
Terrain = Med

Most settings medium at this point, no BSOD relief. :confused:

-Dell XPS 9100
-Windows 7 64
-GeForce GTX 280
-8 GB ram
-Core i7 920, 2.67
-RealTek High definition audio

Nvidia Driver = 8.17.12.6099

BSOD message:

*** STOP: 00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFA800A547028, 0x00000000FA000000, 0x0000000000400405)

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated! Can't find a fix :o ops:

You do not have to search for the whole code. Generally searching for "bsod code 00000124" is what helps me in those cases.

Are you getting those BSODs anywhere else?
Since when are you getting those BSODs?

note: please do not double post

Thanks for the reply, sorry about the double post.

I get the BSOD when gaming, PR & Arma2, and actually while watching a video today. I have been getting these errors since I got this machine from dell. Thinking it was the weak video crad they gave me, I upgraded to the GTX 280. I still get the same problem with the new video card.

In some forums they claim that this bsod has to do with sound devices. It might be broken.

It is however possible that your os is corrupted.
Run "chkdsk c: /R" this might fix broken system files.
Reinstall and/or update your drivers. (esp. chipset)
If all fails I suggest reinstall of windows. (not sure if this voids warrenty with dell, better check first)

If this does not resolve, you will probably have to send it in. I head Dell support is quite good.

Thanks, I will give this a try. Spent an hour on the phone with Dell yesterday. Got transfered 4 times and ended up hanging up. Really hoping this works, I'll let you know. Thanks for you time!
