A question concerning classes (kits)
Hi everyone.
i'm currently downloading all 3 parts of PR and in the meanwhile im reading the guide. what caught my attention was the limitation of snipers in a team. Doesn't this lead to that whenever there's a map switch the persons with the fastest PC get to play the sniper class all the time?

Well the sniper class is actually not played a lot of the time. It's an okay kit, but it also has a lot of drawbacks and against a good squad a sniper can be made into mincemeat in a fiff. it's a hard class and is not played like in a regular game.

[R-DEV]OkitaMakoto: "Talking squad level tactics in bed is actually a little known aphrodisiac"
[R-CON]Pantera : "maybe you might learn that we are not super intelligent beings chained in UKF's basement being forced to work on this".

Re: A question concerning classes (kits)
No. PR has a higher time limit before the round actually starts, so even people with slower PCs will usually load before the round actually begins. And you can only get a limited kit after the round's started, by requesting it.
Snipers are actually rare in PR since every decent player will use the kits his squad leader wants to be used. While Snipers are highly useful in certain situations, it's rarely used correctly and there's normally no need for more than one sniper on a team. Players who grab a specialized kit without their squad leader's permission are greatly frowned upon and will be kicked on the properly administered servers.
EDIT: To elaborate, Snipers in PR aren't primarily a combat troop. Their main task isn't to get kills bur rather to do recon and mark targets for CAS.

Re: A question concerning classes (kits)
In my experience there isn't always a sniper on the team. Not all maps are well suited for them to be effective. In addition, there is a 3 minute 'warm-up time' on most, if not all, servers. So no, you don't need to have the fastest computer.
Just remember to not join a squad only to grab the sniper kit and then leave.
Some people TK for that, tho most don't
Have fun out there

Go to the PRTA server(PRMumble required), inform your teammates that you're new to the game, receive help.Imm0rtal wrote:Oh and also, any of you guys here willing to play some games with me and get me started? i havent got any friends that are into this game.

It warms the cockles of my heart to see new players like this come into the community (although I was a bit concerned by the immediate interest in sniping)!
A lot of what will help you get started is tagging along with a good, cohesive squad with a good squad leader your first few rounds. Being in the Netherlands, I hear some of the great servers are PRTA Mumble Server [EU] and UK Warfare server. There are a lot of very newbie-friendly players around here, just hop into an open squad and tell the SL you're new, he'll most likely help you get the gist.

Why do most fps players got the idea that the sniper is the best weapon in a fps game.

In PR there is a pre-game waiting time of 3 minutes.Imm0rtal wrote:Hi everyone.

This makes it possible for slow PC users to have a chance to try several vehicles and kits!
True, Anyway, I want to tell you that if you ever have a suggestion, You may post it to the suggestions forum.Imm0rtal wrote:allright guys, got it.man this game's got a nice community.
My point is that this probably was a problem before but someone probably suggested to put a timer before the game and it worked.

Just speculating, but if you don't trust your teammates what is the answer? Bring a bigger gun then your opponent.NyteMyre wrote:Why do most fps players got the idea that the sniper is the best weapon in a fps game.
To the new players, just remember this: The standard kits, on the spawn screen, are the best all-round kits in game. The other kits are nice to have in special circumstances. Just take these when your SL tells you too. If you think you need a special kit ask him before you get it.

Re: A question concerning classes (kits)
Well I always got the idea that the sniper rifle was kinda like a big **** - you can get really close to where you wanna shoot but you don't have to worry about getting stuck on a nasty situation.Himalde wrote:Just speculating, but if you don't trust your teammates what is the answer? But I believe most people dislike this handheld ****.
Please, forgive my french.
Anyways, I always did wonder, why do people in infantry squads ask for a sniper kit instead of a marskman? I mean, for realz, it takes so long to use the sniper effectively for killing.

Re: A question concerning classes (kits)
Its very accurate actually. Taking a sniper kit without asking is simply bad manners and is most definitely looked down upon, and majority of servers do kick for it, and often those taking it hardly ever use it properly.T.A.Sharps wrote:None of what you said here is accurate at all.
Any squad leader who doesn't assign kits and lets the squad take any kit they want is a terrible one.
