Minimizes when loading

Post by bsiq »

Hi there!

I recently installed BF2 here, although I already knew the game. I bought it on steam to play PR, but I never succeded.

I find servers and, when I'm at the loading screen (whish takes quite a while, specially if running the "optimizing shaders" stuff)... Everything loads and I click "Assign Squad" (comething like that). Then after a few seconds the maps shows up and my Pr minimizes itself. I try to get back on, sometimes I succefully do it, just to get minimized again.

I'm not pressing anything, btw, except the squad button to join the game...

Once I think it minimized because of the map change, but then when I got map and saw the other map loading, it minimized again during the loading process!

After ctrl+alt+del to close the game I saw it's sucking 1,3gb of RAM from my system. Which is quite a lot for my 2GB DDR2 800Mhz system... So I was wondering if it's a memory issue, which still doesn't explain the minimizing, though...

Anyone can help?

BTW, my system:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (yeah, old)
ECS BlackSeries GF8200A Motherboard
2GB DDR2 800MHZ RAM
Asus Geforce 9600GSO (not sure now if it's 256 or 512... probably 256mb)
Windows 7

Possible explaination: If windows is running low on memory it might prompt a warning which draws focus this minimizing BF2/PR.

Sometimes those notifications occur as bubbles on the lower right corner and are flickering - fighting with bf2 over who get to be drawn. Clicking the join button is maybe actually clicking on the bubble, confirming the message, which closes the bubble. Then it would look like bf2 simply minimized but infact the bubble handle was focused and closed immediately - leaving you at the desktop.

Look for this flickering.

Boost your page file, pr is a memory hog.
