Attack Helicopters Rockets Firing
Hi everyone,
I was just watching a video of two Cobra pilots (pilot and gunner) who were practicing (?) I think. And you see that the Cobra can fire it's two "sides" separately. It's kinda hard to tell but in this video you'll see that the pilot only fires the right side rockets.
I think it would be cool if this would be introduced to PR by just making a weapon slot with like left mouse button for the rockets on the left side and right mouse button for the rockets on the right side, or making just two seperate weapon slots, one for firing each side. I think this will increase the heli's accuracy because than you will know where the rocket will land; so it will be only on one side. When doing this with both rocket sides you'll eventually not hit the target (an apc for example) because the right side rockets will shoot right from the apc and the left rockets left from the apc. While when having only one side shooting you can adjust it perfectly because and it will be easy for centering it.
Here's the video:

resuggestion. im sure ive already seen this video here.
and they probably only have one rocket pod in the video. as far as i know irl you cant fire them seperately, it wouldnt even make sense as the rof irl is much higher than in PR, so it would make no difference in accuracy.

Well it will depend on the helicopter but you can choose how you fire them. Common setups seem to be 2 rkt at a time, single rkt and a burst.
In Black shark you can select bursts of 2, 10 and 20 iirc. Im pretty sure the Apache, Cobra and such will be more configurable. Especially since you can choose which tube to fire (so you can use different types of rkt).

"Today's forecast calls for 30mm HE rain with a slight chance of hellfires"
"oh, they're fire and forget all right...they're fired then they forget where the target is"

Re: Attack Helicopters Rockets Firing
The accuracy argument you got in here, I feel is negated to current rocket physics in-game(they have much more spread) and their usability. Hydras, S-5/8s and similar munitions are meant to be an area effective weapon, not a point target kind of weapon. In vehicles like the Cobra and the Apache, the hellfires fill the role of hitting point targets.
Currently in PR, I personally feel like firing one pod at a time would not be very useful especially at current engagement ranges.

If this suggestion was possible it would be nice to have in the aircraft it is realistic for. I think the opposite of you python and think that deciding which side fires would be very usefull especially if aiming for vehicles which you need direct hits on to kill.

@alex:
well i think you can only choose the tube when youve loaded different types of rockets.
@w/opurpose:
this wont be possible with the engine cause youd need some laser range finder and a dynamic hud with a continiusly calculated impact point.

What? From what I understood hes just saying change the way the pod setup fires. The screen would still be the same and you would have to manually aim off to either the left or right of the crosshair depending on which side you chose to fire.

Re: Attack Helicopters Rockets Firing
Anyway, I you look at the Kiowa and Apache or any other heavy attack helicopter, you'll see that the Kiowa is much more accurate, if your personall thought it that it wont be usefull for you, then I respect it, but let the others have the opportunity to fire rockets this way, there is a point at 'rockets are for area effectiveness,hellfires should be used to hit a target', but at some point it would be really usefull if the pilot himself could also fire accurate.
A good example is the Attack Huey.
But still at some point, one day if this is implemented in PR, and you be flying your chopper, you'll get saved by shooting only one side of the rocket pods, trust me

I'm sorry but I think everything now days is a re suggestion. If it's be suggested again well clearly it's been forgotten. And the issue needs to be raised again.Zoddom wrote:resuggestion. im sure ive already seen this video here.

Re: Attack Helicopters Rockets Firing
Or you can do what they do in arma and fire both with one click
