Can't open PR, stops at PR logo rectangle

I know that there was somewhere written about that problem but can't find it xD

So it's not my problem but my friends. He has windows 7, before it he had VISTA and everything worked fine, but now when he doubleclicks PR icon a ractangle shows up with PR logo and nothing happens and after about 1 minutes it closes.

Any ideas?

Run both BF2.exe and PR.exe in "always run as administrator". And make sure to run BF2.exe in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode.

Change the short cut target to:

"***\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +fullscreen 1

you can also try +fullscreen 0, but make sure it is outside of the "" marks and leave the path to pr.exe the same (don't copy the *** !!!:razz

Okay right click on the PR icon and go to properties.

Next click on the compatibility tab. Check the boxes for disable visual themes and disable desktop composition.

Now click apply, ok, and then try starting the game.

Im no expert but when this happened to me I read deleting profiles under my docs/battlefield2 worked. It worked.. Something to do with the display resolution line in any of video.con files /profiles that prevents startup... typical dodgy BF2 coding..

Change it so it says VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

Why don't you delete the entire folder?

It worked for me. You just have to set all your previous options back (+ account and PW).

Problem solved , partly because of that. My friends didnt even have video.con in MD so i send it him and it works

Hello. I have played PR earlier on this computer lots of times. No parts on the computer has been changed since then. I was able to play both BF:2 and PR smoothly.
I took a pause of PR during my military service for around one year.

Problem: Installed PR 0.95 when it was released but after this when I tried starting the game: the logo appears, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then I am back at the desktop.
Both BF:2 and PR behaved this way.
I completely uninstalled and deleted BF:2, PR and the patches.
Now I have installed BF:2 but it still does the same thing; at startup the logo appears, screen is black for a few seconds and then I am back at the desktop.

My dear friend, if its a fresh installation, create the profile with BF2, then configure the video options, close Bf2 and open PR.

I have problems starting pr too. I see PR logo rectlange, then i see only black screen, and pc crashes, it doesn't even respond to ctrl+alt+del, Video.con is set correctly, bf2 itself is running fine. Might be some issue with startup videos. When trying to run windowed, graphics goes crazy, I see a massive graphics glitch, and still, no response.

DP, sorry. Just noticed, the same happens when i try to join BF2 server with xfire. Seems to crash, when another application tries to open bf2.
