Elitism problem in PR
hi im a relatively new player (1 or 2 months) and im really enjoying the game. in vanilla BF2 i liked it when i had a good squad that followed the squad leader and did things as a team as it just felt more gratifying. in PR i get that same feeling when im in a good squad only its 10x better!
the problem is that to get into a good squad is really hard. i understand people locking out thier squads with thier clanmates if they want to play with thier friends but its just disheartening to be unable to join a good squad because they are all locked out. i HAVE joined good squads of random players but its quite rare that we all speak english and follow orders.
its also a bit disheartening when i join a squad and say hi only to not get a response. like im inconveniencing people by playing. Im not a bad player, i follow orders and understand everything apart from doing squad leader stuff, mortars and crewing heavy vehicles.
What im trying to say is its difficult to have a good time in the game if your not in a clan or dont have friends who play the game. Any tips on how to get in any clans or how to get used to leading a your own squad? (i loved squadleading in vanilla BF2)

Re: Elitism problem in PR
Hi lam! My ingame name is ytman and I frequent the TG server. My squads are always open to anyone and sometimes I kick if their is no microphone or if the person doesn't listen to me. I do lock when its critical to have a small squad for my mission. Thats it though. I enjoy playing with anyone and everyone skill level regardless.
It all really depends on the squad leader.

Join a mumble server, usually random squads (unlocked) will have some diversity and good teamwork. An alternative is to join a clan, tournament, or play with a group of friends rather than being solo.

Welcome to PR and the forums, the trick imo is to pick a good server; and then become a regular.
Announce that you are new, the SL will give you a basic responsibility so you can ease yourself in.
Servers that I personally recommend for new players are
Tactical Gamer, PRTA, NwA and UKWF, the latter 2 being the best pings for you.
If all squads are locked out, tell an admin politely, and he will ensure a squad is open for you.
Leading your own squad is all about what you think needs to be done, name the squad something informative such as EngVoip, or Armourvoip, then find a niche to fill. e.g. Kashan, there are 3 vehicle squads, 1 CAS squad and one infantry squad <- the team needs another infantry squad thus your purpose is clear.
If you play on a server for a couple of weeks, your name will be known and people will be more willing to engage with you; after a month or two you'll have a bunch of friends who will routinely play with you.
But understand its not always elitism, a friend may have disconnected and will be returning, they may have a niche role only requiring 3 men (adding more to teh squad would mean a misuse of manpower), they may be using a 5 man vehicle like a humvee and don't wish to leave a man behind etc.

Re: Elitism problem in PR
most likley if they dont respong they
A. Donthave a Mic
B. Not working togeather going off in differnt directions
C. Using Mumble ( program out side PR where you can communicate )
What you should do is if they dont respond in SQUAD chat ask them does any one have a mic? or just send messages if they dont even squad message then you should simply leave . .
its not normaly yoru Inconviencing them because the more people in the squad the better there is never a Fifth wheel or sixth unless it comes to HMMVs that only seat 5 people ;D haha . .
but yea the only elitism i would POSSIBLY see is players who ask more out of a player on their team/squad than what they can do. then get pissed off whenthey DIE or decline to to the task. . . .
Keep your hopes up and keep playing soon you will find a good balance with SERVERS picking the right one ofcourse and teamwork . . . ALSO make sure your not joining a Foriegn server if you want to speak English somtimes they dont speak the same language

I'm sorry to hear that.
What you can also do is mark players as buddies in PR Spy. When you want to play PR, check if any of your buddies are online.
Hope it helps..

Join Mumble > Go to PRTA > Join any squad where the leader has an Officer kit > Win
Join mumble > Go to NWA > Join any squad where the SL has officer kit and is in NWA clan > Win
Wasn't so hard!
It's not Elitism to kick a bad player from your squad, just like it;s not necessarily a good thing to stick around in a squad with a bad SL.

PRTA and TG are the two best servers for mumble use, in fact on PRTA it is compulsory. Apart from that UKWF run a mumble saturday event and both NWA and MeRk have good levels of mumble use at peak times.
My advice echoes Rudd tbh, pick a server that you like and become a regular. Pretty soon people will start to recognise your name and want to squad up with you, especially if you can prove to be a reliable player.

When you start out, just looking for well-respected clan tags can be a big help... you can probably bet that at 101st or such guy isn't gonna be a flaky SL.

Re: Elitism problem in PR
^ correction go with community tags, community tags such as TG and PRTA are not devoted to their *clan* and often play with pubbers where as many clan memebers get entangled with their cla and get to used to working with them and soemtimes don't like working with pubbers, i advise going on PRTA,UKWF,TG(if you cna get in) and NWA in that order. I myself am part of the TG community however i very rarly lock my SQ to play with friends.
I advise playing on server that the player tend to use mumble on that way a teamwork is always somewhere on the server
after another 3 months you'll be hooked on this game.

Welcome to the forums
Double echoing what Rudd and Jiggy said, pick a server, play there often and persistently. If you want to get known quicker my advice would be to pick a serious mumble server (TG or PRTA). Mumble means stronger lines of communication, which means more and potentially better communication, which in turn leads to closer possible ties between community members.
As for SLing, my two tips are 1. Learn from the best, and 2. Get stuck in.

It's not Elitism, it's just clans wanting to play with people that they like. People in clans aren't always the most experienced. If people want to play in a small knit group, so be it.

Also if you don't get a reply when you say hello, it could because they are busy or whatnot.
I always try to say hi when someone joins the squad.
oh and also, *repeats everything stated above*

Re: Elitism problem in PR
I think that pretty much 98% of people that play PR want teamwork and they like it when there is but alot of times the squad leader just doesn't know what to do next and so he says nothing and just kinda wanders off into his own world and then as a result the rest of the squad do the same. I think if most everybody just had that natural squad lead ability then the problem would be nearly nonexistent. Sadly not everybody can have that ability, but we all can still get tips from people and on the forums so then we can get a bit better at it.

Head over to Tactical Gamer and try to get in a squad with someone with TG tags on. Just tell people you are new and be willing to listen.

a good tip is to add the "#" (without the " ") as a prefix, this has been tried to be implemented as a "I am a teamworker" tag
other than that, pretty much everything else has been suggested above

I'll say from my own opinion, locked squads has alot of different reasons, and all of them can be argued about or approved, What I can tell you is that fire up your mumble and get on NWA/PRTA/TG server and you'll get tons of funs and teamworking rounds, not to mention a lot of different squad leaders that do different stuff, and none of them is alike ^^.

As R-CON H.Sta has stated, this is the # tag. Read over what we got. Feel free to use.
