Mumble? Killing? Collaborator? (Im fairly new)

Ive been playing PR for around 1 month now, but there is still somethings which i get confused over and haven't done. Can you answer my questions?


1. What is mumble? What does it do? How do i use it?

2. I never can seem to kill anyone, for example i ran in a building with my squad, i had a shotgun and was on point in the front, and i aimed my shotgun at an Insurgent around 7 - 10 meters away and fired, it completely missed and he turned around and instantly got a shot on me, so then i fired my shotgun again and he was hiding behind cover now, and he kept getting up and shooting me and eventually i got a shot on him, and he died, but it left me very damaged, Surely if i aim a shotgun at someone from 7 meters, they should die?

Also in a firefight from around 300 meteres, i usually get down on the floor aim at the person for 5 seconds and then start firing, however it seems the enemy always gets down of the floor and then fires and in 3 shots manage to kill me. Is there bullet drop? Whats going on?

3. I was a Collaborator yesterday, i had my hands and i walked towards some US marines and i put my hands up, they just turned around and shot me in the face, and it said "You have been arrested, for working with insurgents" or something. I thought they were suppose to arrest me to do that? What did i do wrong?

1: Mumble is a third party VOIP program like teamspeak. It uses Positional Audio which means that you can hear and talk to people right next to you and you can hear from which direction they are talking to you. Try it out, you probably won't regret it.

2: The settling time for the deviation is shorter if you just crouch instead of going full prone.
I assume you've heard about the deviation? It basicly means the more you wait, the more precise is your aiming going to be.. BUT know this!: You can start shooting at the enemy and suppress him with random bullets while you wait for the deviation to go down.. That is probably why the other guy took you down in three shots..

The shotgun can be extremely powerful if in close range but it's effect is already drastically reduced in a range of ~ 7 meters and up... Just practise a bit more with it. Sometimes you just have to learn by playing the game.

3: Getting shot by a shotgun as a collaborator will not give penalties to the BLUFOR. The shotgun can be used to arrest collaborators at all time.
If you have healed (or revieved) a friendly insurgent you MUST wait 1 minute before you are classified as a civilian again. I can't remember if the same thing goes if you use the rope.

Wrong, you can use the medbag, no 1-min punishment for that, just the epipens and the resuscitate "hands". (and picking up another kit/using vehicles of course)

The only things that can get you legally shot for 60 sec are:

- Epipen
- Resus hands
- Being in Vehicles/mounted guns
- Spawning in

* The shotgun arrests collaborators regardless of their ROE status. The restrainer does the same but applies to all insurgents, not just collaborators.

* Swimming will cause you to take damage as collaborator as if you've gone out of bounds

its a 2dimensional positional audio which is linked to the actual person you play in the game with which you can communicate with any other person on either your or both teams (dependent on the server) with 70-150 meters.

pr has quite a long time to get used to. especially aiming and shooting cause its so far away from any other fps there is.
you not killing that guy with your shotgun might be dependent on bad hit registration which comes with the bf2 engine, you can try BF2 HitFixer, some people say it helps, some dont.

assault rifles and marksman rifles have a bullet drop after 300meters, light/medium mgs and snipers drop after 600meters.
i would never take an engagement over 200meters with an assault rifle, because although its project reality, the weapons are not as accurate as in rl, for gameplays sake. light/medium machine guns on the other side are pretty accurate compared to assault rifles, therefore you will very unlikely win a firefight over more than 150meters against an ar.

furthermore you will get the impression of people killing you right after they started to shoot quite a lot. thats not the case. bf2 is because of how the engine/network connection pretty irregular (thats the wrong term, but the word didnt come to my mind), meaning that what you see and what the other guy sees is not the same, leading to situation where it looks like he just started to shoot, instead he already start half a second ago (which is a quite long time).

1) they can arrest you by shooting you with shotgun with any ammo. aswell as restraining you (melee attack)
2) after spawning or using epipen/resuscitate or using a vehicle you have to wait 60 seconds. that actions make a you a target within roe.

Heh.. tell me about it. I used to own using the bf2 shotgun (pimp-cane), and here I am 9 months down the line in PR and HATE CQB because of the amount it levels the field. That includes defending a corner.. So many times people just seem to shoot after me and kill me, my Squad members laugh when I rage (which is increasingly often).

Even shooting someon in the back isn't a guaranteed kill lol, not if they can turn round..

To expand on what a few other people were saying, mumble is a simply excellent tool for encouraging teamwork. The ability to be able to talk to your other team members in a simple and direct way opens up so many different varying avenues for working together and makes people think more about working as a team, instead of just a squad.

Yeah, tell me about it I've been playing PR properly for a little over a year and its not often I manage a positive KDR. But I don't mind so much, becuase there are other ways to be "good" at PR

You should probably only use Civies as spotters in awkward to get to places (they can't come after you, they can't just shoot you) or as "bait" to lure unsuspecting Blufor into ambushes. Can be quite effective
