Transfering PR(?)
I do not know if this is the right section for this topic, so please move it if it isn't!
This evening 2 of my mates are coming over and they both have BF2 but not PR. I'd like for them to start playing but downloading it on their pc's takes 'years.
SO:
I wondered if it was possible to move the pr map (default c/program files/eagames/mods/pr ??) on to a portable harddrive and then sliiiide it right in to their mods folder. Is the PR folder the only map that should be moved or are there others or is it simply not possible?

This mod is much more then just a maps, cant you just take files you downloaded on HDD and give it to your friends ??

I'm pretty sure I tried something similar many years ago and it didn't work.Swaggzor wrote:I do not know if this is the right section for this topic, so please move it if it isn't!

You will need to re-download the original client and map installers.

Some games do allow you to just plop them in Program Files and they will work, only way to find out is to try.

Best thing to do is if you still have the installers that you downloaded originally then just transfer those onto a portable HDD and install it properly.

Have a drink while it's installing in their PCs. Ah, and don't forget Mumble in PR install package if you're going to play in PRTA, NwA or TG. If you're going to show the game then better to do that in the right servers and with Mumble. Lead your squad of 3 so they can learn.

Edit: nvm, misread sth.
By 'map' the OP seems to mean folder, not actually the maps.

Re: Transfering PR(?)
"Map" is Dutch for "Folder, so yes, I think the terms are mixed up a bit here
.
You should be able to transfer the PR-directory, yes, but you'd need some registry entries as well, so best to just have the installation files.

Why don't you download the installers on your PC (if you don't keep them), and then put them on USB Flash drive and stick it in their PCs and install it?

I think it will work if you can somehow copy the PR registry entries too to their computers.

If you have a memory stick you can copy your mods folder and place it on the memory stick. When it's done, simply hand the stick to your friends, and they can copy it from the stick to their computer.

Re: Transfering PR(?)
wow lotta answers here.
eehm firstup: thanks alot for reading my post and answering to it. I deleted the installers so I'd have to redownload them, but as my mates were coming in 2/3 hours and we were gonna game till the sun goes down(^^) we didn't want any lag from the install files being downloaded.
second: yeah i didn't actually mean the maps, I meant the pr folder(map
)
I'll try and just put it in a HDD and copy/paste it, and otherwise i'll download it a gain.
Just one more question: you guys are talking about registry entries, where can i find those?

Re: Transfering PR(?)
If I remember correctly I did try this too and ended up with a bf2 audio.ddl error when I tried to run PR. However, I might have attempted to copy the whole bf2 + pr folders.

Re: Transfering PR(?)
Just wanted to let y'all know how it turned out. I actually downloaded the pr install files and transfered them to one of my mates but when we double klicked it(tried running as administrator and everything) it just wouldn't start. So i tried transferring the PR mod folder and it worked instantly, so guys you CAN transfer the pr foldere and get pr to work!
