[0957] M4/M16 series UV maps - Extreme Nitpicking

Post by DeltaCommando »

Hello, everyone.

Description: The texture coordinates seem to be wrong in the M4 and M16 variants of all factions. It seems the UV map's been moved so there are some black lines on the texture and some parts like the front sight look a bit off. I know I'm nitpicking, but I noticed that in this new update. I can't remember if it was in the previous versions though.

Steps to Reproduce:
Simply select any M4 or M16 variant and look at the textures.

Screenshot:
Image
There is a black line on the right of the top. It seems the UV has been moved right.
Image
Same as above, but in this one it happens in the front sight too. Looks like the UV coordinates of the front sight map have been moved left.
Image
Same as above but with a better screenshot. In this one you can see that happening on the front sight better.
Tested on:
- Every server, even local;
- 0.957.

Hardware (what matters of it):
GeForce GTS 250.

Thanks. I know it's an extreme nitpicking.

Sort of.

Edit: found a picture of an older version for comparison, on which that doesn't happen.

I see what you mean, but I don't think it affects gameplay very much...

I play at highest settings.
Yeah, I know it doesn't affect gameplay and that it's nitpicking, but it's something I've noticed and thought I would point it out.

That has to do with the dds compression. You'll notice it on all weapons/vehicles.

Nah, there is definitely something wrong with the UVmaps.

I noticed already it on the Canadian rifles when I did something for the Dutch forces.

On this pic, you can see another issue:

The part where you attach the band used to carry the weapon on top of 285 on the compass (there must be an English word which fits better what I mean, but it's late, and English isn't my mother tongue 8-) ), take a look at it, the texture is fubar too.

Well that is a UV issue, but the little purple splotches, that everyone is complaining about. That has to do with the amount of compressing and decompressing in the dds format.

I think I noticed this on some parts of the L85A2 series as well, running with medium textures. I'll check again.
