Just installed new video card (6750) and now PR won't start?

Post by Deathtrap »

All the settings/resolution/refresh rate is the same as when I had the GeForce 7950 GT card. I just installed the XFX HD 6750 by ATI and for some reason, I can't get PR to load.

I click the PR icon, it shows it start to load and then crashes to desktop. Screen doesn't go flash or anything like that. I have the most current drivers installed on the desktop.

I was hoping the 6750 would really smooth things out in game for me but now I can't even get on.

Thanks for any help

Can you start vBF2?

Have you tried reinstalling PR?
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Nope can't run vBF2 either. It worked perfectly fine. I even uninstalled the nvidia drivers thinking it was some sort of conflict. I'm really trying hard to not having to reinstall the whole thing.

It may be resolution based, I know BF2 has issues with some resolutions. Try deleting your profile files in "My Documents/Battlefield 2/Profiles" and let BF2 regenerate them? Better to reset your keys and settings than having to reinstall all.

Seems like that may be the issue, however I deleted both profiles, and the default (and the battlecommo and global) and it just freezes up and stays on splash screen. I leave all the default folders in and it crashes like before. But at least it seems like we're getting somewhere

First make sure you installed the latest catalyst drivers. Restart comp.

Rename battlefield 2 directory in "my documents” to like bfbackup. then start vanilla bf2 and if it starts up fine retrieve your account. This should rebuild everything in your bf2 docs folder and allow you to start pr without issues.

If bf2 won't even start after renaming the battlefield docs folder, then run bf2 in a window to see the error.

Delete everything in X:\*USERNAME*\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

I've fixed this same issue just now, two minutes ago by deleting the Video.con in both your 000x folder and your Default profile folder. Have you tried deleting both and not just one of the two?
