Constant PR crashing!

Post by Acoustic »

I plan on returning to PR in preparation of Arma II PR. The main reason I left PR about 4 months ago was because of the instability of the game. My problems were of the following: Crashing after loading a map, crashing after a round had ended, random crashes during gameplay, ect. Sometimes I would get memory errors, or BF2.exe has stopped working. My hardware is plenty enough to run this game but I had to run the game at medium settings to lower the chances of crashing. Anything I can do before I reinstall BF2 and PR in order to reach Maximum settings and no crashes?

Specs:
GTX 460 1gb
2gb DDr2 Ram
Asus m3a76-cm mobo
AMD Athlon x4 Quad Core

upgrade your RAM to at least 4 GB especially if your using win 7 which uses like 1 GB of RAM.

There are people in my clan who have more ram then me and have the same exact problem. I have never had an issue with other games like this one either.

echo wrote:I also get the same issue, or just the one "memory.dll" issue if I play for too long. (Through a couple rounds) and I have 3.25 usable DDR3 1333mhz RAM.
I really would like a fix, as I really would like to play some PR today.

I only crash in the middle of loading a map (only after playing a round before). For example: A couple of days ago me and a mate were playing on kashan, rollin' in t90's, happy as can be. The next map started loading and about halfway it froze and the little blue spinny circle thingy showed up ( I use win7 32bit). I could not do anything except ctrl+alt+del and stop Bf2.
My system specs are:
Intel core 2 duo E8200, 2,66 ghz
RAM: 3 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series 1gb ddr3

erm if you have any 32bit win7 and vista other than basic you have 4gb usable but only 2gb per program
i tried this
ED Forums - View Single Post - Crash in MP
and it fixed it for me
There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

it really is very demanding in terms of ram! i tried to run it on i7 950 with only 2 gigs of 1333 ddr3 ram and it was just horrible!!

believe me, if your hardware is correctly installed and recognized, and your machine is properly patched with latest drivers (graphics, system, bios) and updates, you should have almost no problems. what might be a problem is how you set up your graphics driver (i.e. high performance, high quality or game specific) .
before i upgraded i ran it on e8500 radeon hd4850 and 4000mb ddr2 ram maxed out just fine.
after i upgraded to new intel i 7 platform and tried to run still with same videocard but only 2 gigs of ram , i couldnt believe it. had to lower everything: still not playable.
