BF2 CTDs on map load

A friend of mine CTDs when he tries to play vanilla BF2. When ever joins a server he CTDs.

This started happening when he went to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\Support and clicked on "Battlefield 2_code"
he reinstalled twise but kept getting the same problem.

another friend did the same thing and also is getting the same problem. anyhelp?
